Apparently Boris Johnson is ditching Uxbridge and South Ruislip (majority of 5,034) and scarpering off to stand in Alan Duncan's seat Rutland & Melton (majority of 23,104). Quelle surprise, as nobody will say.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

I can only find rumours, no confirmation, but it is being reported in several places.

I genuinely don’t want to vote for any of them. I’m in a labour stronghold and our MP seems pretty good (and he’s a nice guy, his kids go to the same nursery as E so I’ve chatted to him a bit). A lot of the Facebook rent-a-gobs are pissed of with him as he’s not voted for some of the leave stuff, so I am a bit worried that we’ll end up with some Brexit party idiot. I might have to vote labour.

Our local Conservative MP has just stood down and everyone apart from about ten people seems to love Boris Johnson round here:banghead: Plus election is on my birthday

Does anyone know how early postal vote forms arrive and when the deadline is to send them off please? An election while potentially moving house is a logistical nightmare.

Sort out a proxy vote so that it isn't an issue? Looks easy enough to do online.

It looks like I have to send my vote in 11 days before the election (which would be perfect for me), but I can't find out when I get the actual voting form.

ETA: Nope, I see the application to vote has to be in 11 days before the election. Hmm.

OK, in case this helps anyone else:
You will usually receive the postal vote pack quite close to polling day.

This is because the ballots cannot be issued until all candidates are nominated - the deadline for this tends to be 19 working days before the poll. And then the postal vote packs need to be printed and sent out.

With your ballot paper will come a free post envelope and it is your responsibility to fill it out and return it before the poll closes at 10pm on 12 December. If you live abroad, you might need to pay for the postage.
I may just go back here to vote.

Sorry, it's the Metro.

I'm delighted Mark Field is not standing
