Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
I suppose I ought to post here. I've had sharp pain on one side of my lower abdomen for the past 6 hours constantly and am now worrying quite a lot. No more spotting since that one day though. My scan is first thing tomorrow. Stupid, overdramatic question; if it were ectopic, I'd be feeling really poorly, wouldn't I?

Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
At 6 weeks there's a small chance it could be the first signs but it's far more likely to be one of the hundred other possibilities. No shoulder tip pain? Sickness or diarrhoea?
I am glad you have the scan tomorrow to put your mind at rest.

Thanks Lora. I have morning sickness still, but no vomiting today and no diarrhoea and no shoulder tip pain.
So I am just paranoid? Every time I relax and enjoy it something happens that makes me think I am miscarrying.
Also; can I take paracetamol at this stage?
Hope you are feeling better after your scan.

Glad all is well with you and Tenacious D Loralei.
Rouky, I asked my GP when I was newly pregnant about ectopics as I know she spent a lot of her training in antenatal care and she said that they are very rare (she has seen one in 13 years) and that you would be feeling very, very poorly and in severe pain (unable to speak/move etc.)
I hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

Thanks Mayday. That is comforting. I read 1 in 100 but I guess of those many will miscarry naturally. I'm in quite a lot of pain still but hoping to sleep and will know in the morning.

If it were me, I'd definitely take paracetamol. Ibuprofen should be avoided but paracetamol and codeine are fine, according to my midwives.
Good luck for the scan tomorrow. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
I don't think you have anything to worry about but am glad you're being checked out tomorrow as it's one of those things that has to be ruled out if you have any suspicions.
NHS is cagey about paracetamol but says there's no evidence it's harmful and it's the first choice if you need a painkiller. I know a few people on here use it as a rule of thumb, in that if any medicine were deemed as safe as paracetamol they would take it.
It's natural to feel anxious, lovely. I hope there's a point at which you can relax into this pregnancy but I doubt it will be before 12 weeks.

Thank you everyone. I am going to try to sleep now, feel a bit calmer. Whatever will be, will be...

Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
My blob has a heartbeat! The pain was most likely caused by a burst corpus luteum cyst, although there was some debate about why it was so sharp but they think it is because I have fibromyalgia so am more sensitive to pain than most. I'm told this is actually a good thing as it releases hormones to help the foetus. It explains why I had pain in my last pregnancy too as I had the same thing although it wasn't properly explained.
Blob is measuring spot on for 6 weeks even though I ovulate late and everything is looking well.
I have done a lot more crying but this time with joy and relief.
