Ok, the realtor has just called and said an end of Feb move should work but Mr O has said he think we’re being dicked around.

We’ll go along and see it in case house 2 has gone.

With the open plan layout, can you use room dividers or even just furniture layouts to demarcate (is that even a word?) the spaces?

All of them look lovely, but if swimming and tennis is important then #2 looks like the best option.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

We bought room dividers that with boxes totally changed the space storage. In the first house it was kitchen/dining from siting/front door (front door openedon tv, it was hell) but the second house was kinder so it was alongside front door to create a "hall" from the sitting room.

I googled. IKEA kallax. You'll still have a door way, pop it into the wall then do nice things with a few baskets on one side and only baskets (block the view) on the play side with storage.

Thanks for all your help on this!

We’re applying for House 2 and 3. Both Mr O and I love love love house 3 massively but swim/ tennis has kept house 2 in the running.

Probably next week? I think house 2 will approve us but house 3 is over budget so we might go back and forth with them a bit.

We’ve had another noise complaint so I hope we can get out sooner rather than later.

I actually like the sound of 3 best as being near shops and restaurants as well as work and school sounds perfect.

Good luck, Olive! I hope you can get house 3 to the right price. It does sound like a great option, and if you both love it, that means a lot. It must be so stressful being worried about the noise, I hope you can get out soon.

Gah! fucking fuck fuck fuck fuck.

House 2 us had a higher offer than ours. They won’t say by how much and house 3 are still dicking us about and we don’t know if they’ll accept our offer.

Nothing else in budget/ right location.

Fuck.

On the plus side our has cleared customs.

Our house had a higher offer but they chose us because as foreigners we were less likely to leave quickly to buy instead of rent (which their previous tenants had just done) so you never know :fc:

Do you get a grace period for storage for your your shipping?

They won’t even consider our application now unless we up the rental offer. Handily our stuff is being stored until end of Feb so we have time but I can’t deal with being in this apartment much longer.

We’ve been in one tiny apartment or other since mid December and I need some space now.

We genuinely found rentals so hard to find - coming from London where there are loads of rentals and they're dealt with in estate agents it was a shock to come here and find out it wasn't the same at all. We looked on craigslist as well as local realtors and in the end found this place just walking round the area we liked, spotting a sign and calling the number on it.

How long are you looking to rent the house for?
