That’s lovely. How will you use it? I’m pondering something similar in place of a coffee table.
I have just bought this lamp.
ETA - it’s less gold looking in real life.

I also would be interested in what you'd do with it, Ella?

I like that lamp.
It will mostly go in front of the sofa. I might try and style it a bit* with a tray and stuff like a table .
* Yeah, style all the cat hair, perhaps

My friend has done exactly that and it looks so good. She has a tray with a small bud vase, candles etc.
Her house looks like something out of a magazine though and she has 2 small children. She is like a living Sunday supplement and I’ve known her long enough to know that that’s what she is like in real life all the time.

That's so nice Ella. I'd love something like that but it'd end up covered in hummus on the first day
Are her children immaculately turned out and very well-behaved, olive?

Have you looked at Design Within Reach? We got our bed, rugs and my rocking chair from there - they have more European style stuff.

That's what I did with my long firm Ottoman-ish thing from John Lewis. It looks very nice - well I think so anyway - til B comes along every weekend and messes it up with all his boy shiz and moves it around because of his long legs and everything

Sympathy, Derek. My biggest problem is the cats bombing around the place, so the tray plan may not fly. I don’t mind too much though .
Olive, places like Utility Design ship to the States. No idea how much shipping is, though.
emma, I Scotchguard the living crap out of everything when it’s new. It does help. Not sure anything protects against houmous, mind you!

I am hopefully going to buy this mirror tomorrow;
To replace this print above my hallway table;
The white one is my back up:

Whilst I’m in the store I’m also going to check out the swatches for this ottoman/ coffee table;
The base is fabric and the top is wood and you can take the top off so it can also be used as storage.
Less exciting - I have this ordered for the playroom:

Re: Ideal Homes- Show Us Your New Purchases!
We went to W&H and liked this a lot:
It's a two seat sofa bed , very neat and not huge which we need for the window bay and I really like the style. It would probably be in the minty coloured fabric draped over it. It's also comfortable as both a sofa (which it would be about 99.5% of it's life) and as a bed.
We need to look at one alternative in sofa.com next weekend. Buts it's bigger and probably doesn't suit quite so well. They do have a better range of fabrics though.
The snag is that I get mammoth discounts on sofa.com stuff so the W&H, while cheaper as a list price, would end up probably £500 more. It's such a big difference.

You went to W&H . I’m glad to hear it was comfortable. £500 more though . When I’m fantasy sofa buying I suffer from terrible price creep.

Re: Ideal Homes- Show Us Your New Purchases!
Also! We went into an antiques place nearby and I saw this and now I love it with all my heart. I thought about it all day and went back again this afternoon to try and un love it but it didn't work
It's a piece of carved fretwork stone from 18th C Gujarat (Well, apparently anyway). It's £245. S looked at it completely bemused and said eventually if I really wanted it it's up to me but I can't bring myself to spend £245 of what would be shared money on something my husband doesn't care for and which has no purpose whatsoever. I wish I hadn't seen it -

Its worth going. I really liked all the mattress and cushion options. If I didn't get huge sofa.com discounts W&H would be the economical option. Stupid big discounts giving me a home furnishing dilemma :firstworldsofaproblems:
