 My computer is going nuts!
Hello hello hello
Splendid new Turtle. Yes yes. Well done.
Do we have any tech geeks about? I'm trying to find out why my computer is going nuts today.
It was fine lastnight, but today it is eating up the computer useage when I am on line. Its making everything difficult to do. Even typing this its delaying. Gah.
My task manager says the computer usage is running 80-100. The memory is all over the place, up and down every few seconds. Its normally quite static, going up or down depending what I'm doing. Never seen this before.
I've run spybot, virus scan, disk cleaned and defraged. Nothing has changed.
Only change on the computer today was two Windows updates. I have since removed them and nothing changed.
Have added a screen shot of my task manager to show what I mean.
Any ideas? What should I be doing to find out more? I've been hunting on techy forums, but its far too massive a field to be finding something specific. I would ideally love someone to just say what I need to do. Please. Thank you.

Re: My computer is going nuts!
After clicking on processes, click on "CPU" or something like that twice so it orders it by what is using the most memory at the time.

AOL seems to be your issue.
Have a google for waol.exe and it should give you some answers

You use AOL, yes?
Highlight the waol.exe and click end process. Say yes when it warns you.
Have you recently upgraded your AOL? I wouldn't use it. Just go online and open Firefox. you don't have to use AOL.

I would recommend using nothing that has anything to do with AOL ever.

That's all very well, and I appreciate that a lot of people do not like it, but I have AOL because its very kid friendly, and I have never had anything like this before. It runs fine all the time. Obviously its not today. Its doing this, but I cannot understand what part of it is doing it. Doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for having a look. Tsu, I'll have a look at the link in a little while. Sorry for the delay, am just having to deal with other issues right now. Gah. Cheers

Re: My computer is going nuts!
Just to update. Its all peachy now. Came back to normal next day. Only difference I made was resetting the router. So no idea what was causing it, apart from it was something to do with AOL.
Cheers for the help though.
