Sew much fabric, sew little time

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

It's the stitch that finishes hems on t-shirts and the like - on the right side it looks like two lines of parallel stitching, on the wrong side it zigzags over the raw edge to finish and neaten. You can get machines that just do coverstitch like this one: http://janome.co.uk/janome_products/coverpro-2000cpx/ , or you can get overlockers that can do coverstitch as well as the usual overlocking, like this one: http://janome.co.uk/janome_products/model-1200d/

I did my trousers course. They say the next pair you make yourself will probably fit better, as the paper pattern has been changed.

I finished Sproglette's top too.

They look amazing Wendy!

I've got my mum's Janome on the dining room table and I think we're going to do Squeak's Clothkits doll soon.

Thank you! It's been a day of finishing off WIPs, and I'm all done now I've finished another of these tops.

How did you get on with your mum's machine, Pip?

Sproglette is going to make the Oliver & S dress (with help!) and chose her own fabric.

The girls are getting two variations of the same dress but different colours.

Elvis wants the sleeveless dress.

And I got fabric for a dress (flamingos) and a skirt (flowers), as well as some much needed plain fabrics for trousers/top.

I made the dress as it had some fiddly bits at the start and then I just kept going!

She was given the option of some careful pattern matching or having enough left over for a 'skirt with a split in it' like she keeps mentioning. You can tell what she went for.

I think that's why I like it; my taste has been influenced by a small child. C chose this bedspread for her room the other day :))

It's very now, Wendy! One of my sewing class colleagues bought about 10 packs of the fat quarters Aldi were selling a couple of weeks ago, and is now sewing them together to make a patchwork fabric which she will then make into a dress.

Lovely fabrics too; I particularly like the tulip print.

I was busy last night finishing things off. A pair of black trousers for me and some dresses out of leftovers for the girls (Elvis's rode up for the photo, I promise the neckline isn't that bad!).

I started another dress in this lovely blue fabric.

My project came yesterday - it's the trousers from the course I just did. At least I don't need to fit the pattern to make a pair in indigo denim, and I can make the shorts variation out of the paper pattern so it's not a complete waste.

I love the boxy blue and white top on your 4th of March post, WJ!

Colette have reviewed their Sorbetto free top, and I'd like to make it as a trial run with a FBA on their patterns before I do the Aster pattern that I bought.

The digital file is in three different versions, for the three styles (actually six because they're different for smaller or larger sizes). I'd like to make the long one (v2), with sleeves(v3).

Can anyone see if there's a difference in the arm area on the front and/or back main pattern pieces between v2 and v3? I could print them both out but I'd rather not waste the paper and time if they're identical except for the bottom hem area. The pattern piece guide shows three different sets of front and back, but 1 & 3 appear to be the same to me.

I had a look at the website but really can't tell. :helpful: Could you just print off the armhole pages to measure rather than all the pages for the front/back?

Actually, looking at this then I'd agree that 1&3 look the same.

Hmm, thanks for looking. I think I'll just do the sleeveless tunic first, and then maybe put sleeves on a second one. The sleeves actually look a bit restrictive on that burgundy example.

Deer & Doe have just reviewed their free Plantain top pattern too :)

I love that neckline. It looks really complicated, you're so clever, Wendy.
