I’m only adding XCs to the list as they approach, as I’m not sure yet how many of them I’ll make.

I’ve just spent half an hour trying to enter a February half that’s so popular it sold out in 2 hours last year  The Run Britain website was on the verge of crashing, I think!

This race route was cut short last minute due to flooding on a section of the course so rather 4km it was 3.24km which was more than fine with me :))

I didn't have any team mates as they'd pulled out with injury so I started with the first fast group and I was at the back, managed to reel a young girl in by 1km and hold her off with my left shoe lace undone, not my favourite course but always well attended and a good laugh. Roll on next week.

How did you get on Mojo?

Well done, Duo! Short and speedy :))

Today went well, thanks - not quite as quick as I’d hoped, but a PB for that race, if not a 5m PB overall (off by about 30 secs, although neither Garmin or Strava seem to record 5m records.)

J paced me and was really encouraging, which was nice. We agreed at the outset that I wouldn’t go for the pace he was suggesting g, although I do concede that I probably had a bit left at the end.

Getting better all the time though.

www.fetcheveryone.com is a great resource for tracking milage times and race times.

That's good that you're just off a pb and it's so difficult putting your (general) body under that stress. I don't do well in shorter distances because I'm not willing to cross the line retching (I did yesterday). I'd rather put up with muscular ache than lung burn any day.

I’ve updated my Wix time as we’ve only just had the chip to chip and it’s around half a minute quicker than the gun to chip (as I always start quite far back!)

Well I did it but I had an absolute fucking mare.

I started off feeling really good, hitting 10 minute miles which is what I wanted. I had no niggles, I was well rested and warmed up. It was also obvious how much the Friday night trails were helping me, as we tend to go over fields and this course was common land really. But even so it was obvious that there were better runners than I struggling with the terrain, which was a pleasant surprise.

About 3k in I got the hump with my phone, it wouldn't play the music that I wanted and although its only a minor thing it got right on my wick, but I pressed on just listening to whatever shit it threw at me. Then another K later the whole thing packed up which really pissed me off, I was spending more time looking at this poxy phone than I was running by this point. Anyway, it's no biggie, but I was pissed that my time won't be logged on my app.

I cracked on past the half way stage and felt good, although I had no idea what pace I was heading at, but a few hundred yards later it didn't matter anyway. I got bastard blisters. I've no idea why, it's the same trail shoes I've used loads, and even last night so why it would start now I couldn't say. I can only guess a mixture of using them twice in two days and a bit more tarmac today than usual was the cause.

Anyway, it got so bad that I couldn't continue, so I took the bastard shoe off and cracked on for around the last four or five k with one shoe, which hurt a lot. But I did it, and although it doesn't matter, I will update my time later when I get it.

One day I'll enter one of these and hit it perfectly but for today I've got to be happy that I actually got around I suppose. Next year I'll smash it. :))

eta: added the official time in. :perky:

Oh my god, TC! That’s terrible luck - did your feet get wet or something?

I’m always intrigued at talk on here of music during races, as it’s not allowed in any of the races/events I’ve ever done. Possibly a road vs trail thing? I’ve only ever run road races. I don’t run with music anyway.

You’ll get a chip time later, I expect? Well done anyway - time to look after those legs and feet now!

I've been way wetter before so I honestly can't work it out, I'll strap up next time and see if that helps. But it's safe to say that I will be having that rest now - just under 5k on trail with just a sock on isn't the best for the sole of one's foot. I'm in tatters.

I think you're ok to listen to music as long as there are no roads? I do like to hear something if I'm running on my own, but obviously that didn't happen today.

Yep, I'll get a time and will update and I've guessed I'll be closer to an hour and a half rather than the hour I wanted but given the circumstances I'll take whatever I can. :))

What a bummer! Blisters are a bastard and there's nothing you can do when they happen.

Get some compeed plasters to put on them now, it really helps.
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.
