I’m seriously tempted to just order it for myself now pip. Ellas description of reading it has sold it to me and I think we could all do with cheering up.

I’m putting this on my Christmas list now after Ella’s description. My mum’s always asking for ideas and this is perfect. I don’t even care if I make anything from it. Funnily enough I got my copy of Feast out (after a thread on here reminded me of it) the other day and it’s just so comforting.

Black Forest Brownies? I may have to get it just for those.

I still haven't made those, Skips. The cheapest dried cherries I could find were £7.99 for a small pack :twitch:.

I must show you all my new book because it's (probably!) a one-off. Anna Jones sometimes sells PDF recipe collections (there was a charity one earlier this year), and S bought the Christmas one for me for my birthday, but he thought it was a bit shite handing over a PDF, so he had it bound into a hardback book. You can't tell from my perma-shitty pictures, but it's turned out very nicely, and I thought it was such a good idea.

The lebkuchen look lovely too. I accidentally ordered 4X as many packets of organic orange peel as I intended

Did you make them?

Re the proof-reading, she’s put “flax eggs” throughout when I presume she meant flax seeds *instead of* eggs :)).

Flax eggs :uhh:.

1 flax egg = 1 tbsp of ground flax seed mixed with x quantity of water, I think?

Nope! But I might tomorrow so our house smells christmassy while we trim the tree

She might mean flax / egg because she often gives vegan alternatives (her brother's vegan, I think).

Yes, they’re a vegan egg alternative, but it’s like somebody’s done a bad find and replace.

We’re doing our tree tomorrow too :dotty:.

I've seen quite a few recipes where they list "x flax eggs" as an ingredient though, although if the book isn't specifically vegan it probably is an editing mishap rather than intended.

Bumping for inspiration.

What is everyone reading/enjoying just now?

I have requested Made in India as an upcoming birthday gift because my curry game is pretty weak, so I’m excited for when that arrives.

I recently got Linda McCartney’s Family Kitchen, which is an update of some of her older recipes by two of her daughters. There’s lots of photographs and text, as well as all recipes now being vegan friendly.

That sounds like an interesting read, Wendy. I keep meaning to seek out more vegetarian recipes so I will have a look at that one.
