I’ve always thought he was odd and couldn’t understand why the girls at school had posters of him. He is however absolutely amazing in Magnolia, such an incredible performance

Top Gun was marvellous. :love2: Hit everything pretty much perfectly right. Lovely, elderly Tom Cruise. :)) I came round to him after he made an excellent Lestat.

I’ve just been to see it this evening. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m just back from that, Bea. Pure cheese but very enjoyable. Felt sad seeing Val Kilmer, but I was impressed by the Goose-alike.

Not being enormously well up on Machs I asked R about that after the film; "is that even credible?" but sadly I stopped listening after a minute of his response. :)) He was also showing me pictures of planes "is this what they were up against in the last bit?" and I was all "well, it was flat and spotty?" Interspersed by doing plane arms round the car park whilst singing the theme tune. :))

I loved it too. Ridiculous jaw clenching, soulful looks and intense hugs all present and correct, but surely they could have fitted in a ‘when I hit the brakes they’ll fly right by’?

Dr Strange 2 last night, which we all enjoyed (easily pleased!). Ghostbusters Afterlife was ok, though a bit schmalzy at the end.

Downton Abbey 2 was an easy watch and I too cried at one point. I quite enjoyed Old as well, one of his better films I think.

I think I enjoyed it more in retrospect. I need to watch the Evil Dead films again.

Philomena.

I’m late to the party and I don’t know how it bypassed me but it was such a good film. Judi Dench was excellent, Steve Coogan didn’t just play Steve Coogan and it made me cry twice.

I liked Doctor Strange. I mean, it wasn't jaw dropping brilliant but there's definitely worse ways of spending two hours. I say this as someone gritted teeth committed to going seeing Chris Pratt and his chicken wrangling at weekend, despite an appalling set of reviews. :))

I saw Chris Pratt et al at the weekend - do you know what, there are some splendid action scenes, some great CGI and it's quite fun to see the assembled cast from the various films together. If you ignore a bit of dubious acting and under-developed plot, and just go with it, it's an enjoyable enough flick.

Oh, that's good. I'm fine with lightly shonky if there's good CGI dinosaurs. I mean, I was ecstatic about Godzilla Versus Kong for the CGI. :love2:

We saw Elvis this afternoon. Neither of us is a particular fan, but we both enjoyed it. It's very long though (something like 160 minutes!)
