I have last year's version of that and I love it. I think the hood is styled really weirdly, it's very generously sized on mine (I have a massive head and it's still roomy, definitely space for hair being up).

I'm so confused by the hood. It says it's 'shower proof'. I mean I'm not going mountaineering but will it be enough?

Ah really! Do you find it rain proof enough?

I'm trying to remember, and I think I had slightly damp shoulders once, but in exceptionally stormy vile weather. Definitely nothing bad or I'd have flung it out :))

My sister has a similar Uniqlo one and loves it. She bought it for standing by football pitches so it should suit.

I’ve got a long Next one like that in Ivory, without a hood. I love it for rugby matches.

I bought a similar grey one last winter and it’s been so useful.

Can you just nix wax anything?! This might be life changing as it's often hard to find a cosy but properly waterproof coat.
If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

Only if you don’t mind ruining the texture.

I had a thick long Uniqlo coat like that one, and to be honest, it looked warmer than it actually was. I often got a wet arm/shoulder walking to the tube in the rain if it was pouring down. (I do know though, that not many padded coats/jackets are waterproof, even the very expensive ones). I wouldn't buy again.

Although I don't think i want it to be super insulating (S had a down jackety thing from superdry and never actually wore it because it was so warm). And all my other coats are only short so if its wet at all I end up with damp trousers immediately which is what annoys me most

It'll be fine. I had my Next one unzipped in -7 or so because I was too warm :)) ( I run quite warm) I don't even think I did get wet at all in that one, I think it was the other one I have (which I just nik waxed) from LTS. Order one to try on maybe? Actually, I'm quite attached to my duvet coat because a colleague is so repulsed by duvet coats it makes me happy not to obey her snide comments

I can definitely deal better with being slightly cold. I hate feeling too hot in a coat, it feels very restrictive or something.
