Braxton is a super common name over here. I know loads of them. In fact there were two of them in J’s Kindy class.

As naff at it is ( sorry Braxtons), it’s another last name as first name isn’t it? I’m thinking of Toni Braxton .

I know somebody Cock.ram. Women have married into this surname, taken it on themselves and given it to children. I mean, COME ON.

I think Timotei is male (“three other men...”) but what on earth were his/her parents thinking? I will call my imaginary next child Herbalessences.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

I'm sorry rosy, I deleted when I realised it clearly said he was one of three men and therefore most of my post made no sense. I did google Timotei as a name, but only got shampoo results. Possibly completely normal somewhere else but I bet he got the piss ripped out of him at school!

It’s all good.
My youngest adopted step-sister had an odd taste in names for three of her six kids but she’s never resorted to shampoo for inspiration. Mind you, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had another, and all bets would be off on the name.

The equivalent of Timothy in French (Timothée) is pronounced Timotei. One of my colleagues back in Brussels has a young son with that name. I had to try very hard not to laugh when I heard the name.

Re: That's not a real name!
For fear of unknowingly offending anyone here I always think it’s extra strange when there is quite a close alternative that could be adopted if it were your own name (I would go with Cochrane/Coughran/m in this case), and certainly an obvious solution when it’s not. It’s Cockburn that gets me, as if I’m not mistaken it is in most cases pronounced Coburn, a name that also exists. Why not just drop the ck and give your kids the break you didn’t get, or at the very least save yourself endless corrections with sniggering customer service staff.

Daphne. A perfectly fine name until you spell it Dafni.
