Commonwealth Games

Post by Hazey_Jane »

Anyone up for joining me in a bit of sport in the next week or so?

I do like the Commonwealth Games because of the huge variety of sports on offer which don’t get much coverage elsewhere- last time I found myself riveted by the squash and I love watching netball- and the fact that it’s not Team GB but the home nations split up so you get to see people who are usually teammates competing against each other.

Oh yes. I've just booked tickets for wrestling Friday night in Coventry.

I was working with a dunce when looking for tickets for a week Friday (the only day we could attend anything) as he didn't seem to register my urgency that tickets go immediately so you can't give me vague answers then fucking wander off to do something else. Rookie.

I had tickets offered to me to go to the netball but couldn’t take them up, sadly. But yes, I love the CG.

Any opening ceremony is going to be unfavorably compared to 2012 but that bull is pretty impressive

We’ve had a few chances at rugby 7s tickets, but the timing just isn’t right, sadly.

We have tickets for the mens gymnastics final on Sunday, and the athletics next Saturday. E does gymnastics and has been told by a girl in his class that ‘boys don’t do gymnastics, it’s for girls’ so I’m looking forward to Sunday!

Is anyone watching the men’s gymnastics? I have been gasping out loud worried that James Hall was about to fall off that high bar- bloody brilliant.

Oof, it sounds like there’s been an awful crash at the velodrome - I hope everyone’s okay.

I really enjoyed watching the mixed triathlon relay - such a great addition to the competition schedule both here and at the Olympics. Fantastic efforts by the English and Welsh teams too - I loved how supportive they were of each other (but I guess they train together all the time!). Great crowds on the course too. :))

I enjoyed some of the women’s gymnastics yesterday. Very jealous of Suzi at the men’s today!

It was great! And yes, they’re all supportive of each other because I guess this is the only time they compete against each other. I can’t think of another time when the home nations are split like this.

I am slightly annoyed that I’m switching g over to watch the football now, really hope I can catch the rugby 7s later

It has been a fabulous night for Elish and the swimmers and KJT. A great competition.
