Steeltown Murders on the BBC
I watched this twice through. I've seen a couple of reviews complaining it's slow, but I thought it was perfect. Very dignified and respectful to the victims, and excellently done. Highly recommended viewing.

I really liked Annika even with Nicola Walkers odd way of speaking.

I started Steeltown Murders last night but stopped half way through the first episode as Zirk is away and I think he will like it too. It seems very well done.

I'm halfway through Annika and enjoying it.

Re: Old-fashioned telly recommendations
I saw part of The Gallows Pole last week and decided to leave it till I get home and watch the lot in a binge. I'm in the Lakes and can only see iPlayer on the laptop/iPad. I love Shane Meadows things (he did This Is England, which is one of my favourite TV series ever), and this is similar, in that it is semi-improvised and has his usual actors. It uses modern dialogue although it is set in the 1760s, which can be really funny. From what I saw I would definitely recommend it.

I binged on Steeltown murders and I thought it was very respectful to the victims while demonstrating the failure of policing (to be fair, some of that was the lack of modern techniques such as computerised databases) that allowed the murderer to escape justice for so long.
I've posted before about Annika, I think it's brilliant.
I've started a new Walter Presents on All4 - J'ai Tué Mon Mari (I Killed My Husband) but it's so dark, I'm really struggling with it. I thought Non Mi Lasciare (Don't Leave Me) was challenging but at least it had beautiful Venetian backdrops to compensate for the difficult bits of the story. Though there is also handsome Daniele to look at and the fun of the amazing CCTV cameras which can zoom in on the tiniest objects in real time
