Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
Apparently lower back pain is a symptom of Omicron; mine is both in my right hip flexor at the front and above my bum at the back. Only on the right side. I've got to get a hot water bottle to sit at my desk chair, it is complete agony.
Do we know where it stands with ibuprofen and Covid? I know at the beginning it was a big no-no but is that still the case? It is painful to the point of distraction.

Glad your flatmate has buggered off, Epp. It's horrible if you can't feel 'free' in your own home and this applies to both of you.
Sorry for your positive test Luce! Hope the hip pain will be the full extent of your symptoms.
Here in Covid House we have 2 teenagers who are miserable because they can't go to school yet. They would be allowed to if they'd been symptom-free for over 24 hrs but one has a really sore throat and the other is snotty and coughing. Both Mr D and I are congested, coughing, bad sore throat and bursts of feeling really hot/cold. I will be so surprised if I test negative again tomorrow!

I've had exactly that it terms of hip/bum ache (and down into leg a bit) after all three of my vaccinations. I assumed it was because it was an area of weakness for me but a friend also had it.

Is it related to any glands, maybe?

Ooh that is interesting! I mean, maybe it is glands like Ella says?. It is lower back, right hand side, just above my bum, exactly where the back of my hip would be, if that makes sense. It reminds me of being in early labour, actually. Common in post viral recovery but apparently very common in Omicron, more than the other variants. It would be less distracting if it wasn't conentrated on just one side. It feels like I've pulled something at the gym but deeper.
Still, I'll take over hospital/death. And very pleased I imposed my own isolation since my (almost unnoticeable) symptoms started. I'd have just been passing it round willy nilly otherwise.

Huh, I had exactly that lower back / right hip pain last weekend (i.e. 10 days ago) but it went away after a couple of days and I was fairly sure it was a mild groin strain from a yoga class. I've been LFT-ing negative throughout. No other symptoms of any kind, I'm still pretty convinced it was a gym-induced strain but it's strangely coincidental that it was in exactly the same location as yours Luce.

I thought mine was gym too! I last went on Friday. I've only been testing because of Theo and because I started to feel a bit ropey. But no lack of smell, no fever, no headache, no sore throat. Just feeling a bit 'off'. Also, I've been testing every day for the whole week so can easily track exactly when I turned positive. Thank fuck for vaccines!

E has lower back pain too and in his legs. I've been dispatched to get ibuprofen.

Yes, the ibuprofen is helping. I've sent out for one of those heat pack thingies too, that might help E? It is so distracting!
My Mum still has random pain in her leg occasionally after her bout of Covid in October. It would be fascinating, were it not affecting people negatively.

Oh how weird! I hadn't heard of the back/leg/hip pain. I'm glad no one here is feeling terribly ill with it.

Omg seriously?? I have had lower back, hip and leg pain since bloody 2020, right after I got Covid. I see a chiropractor regularly now, and I very much believed it was only related to Covid by way of coincidental timing. This is the first I have heard of a direct correlation. So I may be less fully recovered than I thought thenLuce wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 4:07 pm Yes, the ibuprofen is helping. I've sent out for one of those heat pack thingies too, that might help E? Agh, sorry Bendy. Mums gp did all sorts of tests on her leg and basically couldn’t find anything so due to the timing, they’re guessing it’s probably Covid related.
My back/bum/hip have been excruciating this afternoon. I wonder if it is what shingles feels like? I’ve got heat packs to take the edge off but I might go a bit loopy if I have to be like this for too long!

I know you've taken ibuprofen but would the gel version or Volterol rubbed in the area target it more perhaps?

Shingles is on the left side only, but it could be normal myalgia, which is common with viruses. Do you take vitamin D? I take loads because of my various viral weirdnesses. It sounds horrible though, I’m sorry.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
I was really achy when I had Covid.
I've felt like shit this week with a headache and upset stomach. I've been testing every day, like a mental case, and they've all come back negative. There do seem to be a lot of gastro type bugs going around too
