Re: Simon Baron-Cohen can stuff right off
I do not want those people :)) I'm totally aware I am being a dick, and I would Have Words with anyone else doing this. It's a bit half hearted really, and I suspect it's a reaction to having been videoed last week talking about how positive neurodivergence is. The video will be circulated around a few universities and I think I'm slightly worrying about career suicide. Also, being a dick to myself :))

What Ruby said! You can be telling daft stories to which your ADHD contributes and still be funny. Hell, maybe neurotypical Smunder would be dull as fuck! :)) And as for the rest of it, you are one of the coolest people I know and I have been jealous of your ability to rock awesome hair for some time.
Are you due on, by any chance?
I only ask because those are the times I decide everybody must be barely tolerating me :))

Smurf, you're funny and kind and smart and interesting and I for one really enjoy spending time with you. I don't think it matters if you're you because of the ADHD, or in spite of it, either way you're a cool person to spend time with.

Smun, you dingbat.
You are totally not interesting because you have ADHD but because you're generally pretty sound. :)) I totally reckon that in any person there's that much going on you can't really bounce it down to ADHD/Autism traits anyway. Well, except for the addictions bit or where I get cross about the wrong cutlery. :))

Yeah, I'm just being a dick to myself :)) You know what my research is about, so it's quite amusing that I'm doing this nowBat Macdui wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 2:03 pm Smun, you dingbat. You are totally not interesting because you have ADHD but because you're generally pretty sound. :)) I totally reckon that in any person there's that much going on you can't really bounce it down to ADHD/Autism traits anyway. I think it possibly is hormone related

Bloody hormones :))
I got a call from a SALT today to arrange a phone consultation about Berty next week. Apparently it's the school's referral which has finally got through (from Sept 2019) and not the GP one from a few months ago, but she has all the paperwork from both. I'll just have to see how much store they set in her teacher's report (who thinks she just extremely bright and trying it on :verm: ) and how much they believe me about her being very different at home. SALT is definitely not the nest route though, as Bert is extremely eloquent generally, and pretty eloquent emotionally.

God, the obsession with SALT. I got referred there first, as a verbal 36 year old :))
SALT do seem to be good for making the onward referrals though (at least, that's how we finally got our concerns about Jack taken seriously), so fingers crossed.
Also, MASKING. Why is this so alien??
(I might be doing a TEDx talk about this shit next month

Honestly, I mean this in the nicest possible way, but I feel a bit like your posts on the thread recently have either missed the point entirely, or I'm misconstruing them.

My brother is going for an assessment for ADHD. I've been saying he should for years but now his friend, a mental health nurse, has raised it he's decided to listen.

Oh that's good. Obviously not that he's ignored you and it's taken someone else saying it, but good that he's finally open to it :))

Re: Simon Baron-Cohen can stuff right off
My nephew was telling me this morning that ADHD diagnosis is quicker than ASD, although I've no idea if that's true (or has regional variations). I hope it's a smooth process for your brother, anyway.
I haven't updated this but the conversation with the SALT went well (she was no stranger to masking!) and we have Berty's assessment this Friday. It took so long to get to this stage but the last bit has been really quick (and would have been even quicker if a piece of post hadn't gone missing for 4 months, which isn't their fault).

Re: Simon Baron-Cohen can stuff right off
I think it might be a quicker process, but the referral seems to take forever (here anyway). I paid £££ and went private in the end. Fingers crossed it's smoot for ShoeBro. To be fair, I didn't try for an NHS ADHD one, after the palaver with my autism one.
That's good news, Lora. Hurray for someone not needing to hear my MASKING: The Musical :)) Fingers crossed for Friday.
