Re: Animals strike curious poses (aka pet pics 2017)
Oh, that is tricky. I would be tempted to do the bedroom/cafe thing, but it depends how upset they might be by noise. Maybe that and perhaps a week in a cattery for them for the worst of it, if you can manage that and can find a good cattery (they do exist). You could also visit then. But that excludes poor Bruce, I suppose. Maybe have a chat with Bruce's owner, see how the land lies now. They might have accepted he's pretty much yours. You might have to play the mad as all shit card, but that shouldn't be too tricksy for you. :))
I'm a bit flappy about what to do with Pix if I try and get a cleaner next month and that would only be for a half day a fortnight, so I'm no real help other than appreciating your dilemma here.

Bruce has just come to see me because he slept through his lunch time snack.
I do think chatting to his owner would be a plan at some point, though I can't say I actually want to. :))
Joy is really terrible with humans, she was a mess when my family was over, hiding and panicking. I had to take her up a partridge leg and some hake to calm her down.

Poor Joy. I wonder how you ended up with such a terribly highly strung cat, Goat...

I ALSO HAVE 2-3 LAID BACK CATS. (Though Moo has learnt to be a bit afraid of people/post/the telephone from observing Joy). Bruce is the one that greets all visitors nicely, and Darnell rocks up a bit later and sits on whoever is on his chair without even being formally introduced.

I really think you need to get Joy some kind of assistance terrier. :)) That would help immeasurably.

I would love that, and so would she. Poor terrier though. I can't type this as she keeps tapping my face.

Oh lovely Bruce, I can understand why you don't want to leave for a while without him!
I must definitely not get one of those felt cat beds. I have enough random cat attracting properties as it is.

Exactly. NOT the owner's fault.

Here is my highly strung tortie:
I keep wondering where she is, but she's so happy to have her radiator bed back in her preferred spot (it had to be moved to make room for the Christmas tree) that she is only moving from it when absolutely necessary.-

It's legitimate; cat personalities generally do often correlate with fur colour (as you probably know, sorryLittle L wrote:Most torties are highly strung though. Mine certainly is

She looks very highly strung there.
Joy has had pretty much the same life experience as Darnell - probably tamer as he used to get into fights when he was younger while she is wary of going in the back garden without me - but with a totally different response. If she had come to me when she was older I would assume she had been badly mistreated, when in truth the worst thing that's ever happened to her is one day the post came through the door while she was sitting near it.
I am sitting cross legged at my desk and Bruce is on my knee, bashing at the keyboard. :))

I did not know this. I would like to know more about your feline racial profiling.Ella77 wrote:It's legitimate; cat personalities generally do often correlate with fur colour (as you probably know, sorryLittle L wrote:Most torties are highly strung though. Mine certainly is).

It's in one of my Temple Grandin books (there is no higher authority on animal behaviour), which I will dig out tomorrow. Remind me if I forget!

I should like to know if there are proven personality traits for cats other than tortoiseshells (within DSH anyway, I know certain breeds have certain personality types), particularly black ones. There are certainly similarities in temperament with mine, but I don't know how much is just coincidence, and also them being boys.
