I have fears of Cameron having a go if they can parachute him in somewhere safe. Probably even Richmond itself if Sunak fucked off.

This is all tin hat stuff though, obviously!

I don't know if they'd have time to get him installed - Sunak would have to resign and they'd have to have a by-election, then a leadership contest before they call a GE. They have to call a GE by December this year I think (or Jan 25 maybe?) and they're so busy fighting with each other that I can't see them getting their act together.

I may just be being optimistic though :))

This is not looking good.

I don't know how different the Durham result is likely to be from the other Northern areas still to declare, but that's a huge victory for Kim McGuinness (the ex Police Commissioner). At least she's Labour, so it could be worse, but it's just so unfair (stamps foot :verm:).

Sorry Morgs, they’ve just declared - he lost (by about 60k) to Kim McGuinness.

She's got it, but by a much smaller majority overall than looked likely. I'm very disillusioned but what can you do?

I resigned from the LP because of their treatment of Jamie Driscoll, and was delighted when he raised enough to stand as Independent. He would have been great for the region, working with Andy Burnham and Tracy Brabin for the whole of the North, but it was not to be. This time, anyway.

Thanks Chicky - we cross posted.

The Conservatives have lost control to the Lib Dems in Gloucester which I'm pleased with. PCC remains a Conservative.

How on earth has this happened? I have been horrified by what I've read in Private Eye about him. Are the other candidates really so dire? Hopefully he might be arrested for fraud/corruption...

My ward swept to the LibDems (which was the recommended tactical vote) but looks like Bristol overall remains No Clear Majority.

PCC for Avon & Somerset changed from Con to Lab.

So, not too bad.
