My ward has remained strongly Lib Dem, and they've gained a couple more seats elsewhere in the town. Interestingly, one of these is off a long standing labour bloke, which leaves Labour with only one councillor (not up for re-election this year).

In a way this is a good thing because it means when it comes to a GE there's a stronger case to stop Labour muddying the tactical voting waters again and we have a (slim) chance of getting shot of our useless Tory MP.

I actually did proper reading about PCCs and a lot of sensible people seem to think that whilst they're not the best thing in the world, they're better than what there was before.

I am also worried about Sadiq. There were a lot of people doing some frankly batshit back of fag packet calculations on turnout last night, so I had to put down Twitter and go to bed.

My ward are just solid Labour, as per usual. I'm a bit pissed off with Galloway's lot winning seats in Manchester and Rochdale. :lg: Stupid fascist charlatan in a ridiculous hat. :verm:

That’s good to know, Bats. After reading my latest book, and all the recent Met police stuff, I am currently very anti-police which is slightly traumatising. I need to do some thinking and reading.

I'm now panicking about the London Mayor result :(. A couple of left-leaning friends told me they didn't bother to vote as "Sadiq will be fine". I wonder how many more thought that, with the turnout slightly down from 2021.

Online Sadiq anxiety seems to have ramped down a bit now they're actually counting. Someone did say last night that the hysteria was emanating from people who hadn't slept since Thursday and perhaps they should try a nice nap. :))

We'll know by 1.30pm, which is when all the local areas will have counted, but I don't think they call it officially from City Hall until a bit after that.

Mayors:

Noon Liverpool City Region
1.30pm London (constituency count)
2pm South Yorkshire
3pm West Midlands
3.15pm West Yorkshire
4pm Greater Manchester
5pm Salford

I like how precise West Yorkshire are being.

Greenwich and Lewisham are the first to declare. Sadiq won! 83,792 votes. Susan Hall second with 36,822. Fingers crossed…

This guy is posting the counts if you want to follow. Looks like the message about the switch of voting systems cut through. I'm off to take my mum to a garden centre. Assume I'm coming back to the north west being run by grumpy men again. :))

I'm keeping them peeled for the London results. I'm pleased Bristol remains no overall control though the Greens gained seats, and of course Marv is off. My postal voting paper turned up today.

Going early "London mayoral race: Labour claims victory for Khan
Labour has won the London mayoral election, and Sadiq Khan will serve a third term in post, party sources have told Sky News.

Just four of the capital's constituencies have returned results so far, but Labour sources are confident enough to say they are victorious in the capital."
