I think they all pretty much do the same job. We still have the same one from when we first moved in together 22 years ago.

I also have the Oxo one. Sometimes it grips too well and bends the tin slightly out of shape and doesn't take the lid off properly.

I've got one of those jar lid openers too but I can't use it for love nor money. I have never successfully opened a lid with it.

I don’t need to use it normally as I prefer to use a knife under the edge but my mum uses it successfully on a regular basis.

I’ve got anew contraption now that sounds like it does what the knife does.

I usually have to pierce the lid with the oxo tin opener to open jars.

I just run jars under warm water for a couple of minutes and that is always enough to sort them out?

Also a sharp slap on their bottom before opening
