Re: May Exercise
Run rest day today. Did a wee walk (to pick up a delicious cake for my team at work) and also did a back and bicep workout.

I had a nice walk with another rugby mum last night, we did about 2 miles.

Re: May Exercise
Do you really love it? Have you always felt like that about exercise?
I feel like I've totally lost my mojo with exercise recently, I just can't be bothered with any of it. Yet I know it's good for me. I just feel meh about all of it. I'd love to have the motivation back.

Re: May Exercise
Yes, I do really like to feel my muscles aching as it makes me feel like they're being worked. I don't feel like it's a chore 95% of the time though of course I do have days where I can't be arsed. I think this has been a gradual mental switch over the last ten years for me - I used to exercise and enjoy it but it was because it was good for me but now it's a part of my everyday life like working, sleeping etc and I feel like I would be wasting the time if I wasn't doing an activity. Plus I really notice the mental wellbeing benefits and I like to get into a zone in my head like an automaton when I exercise.

Re: May Exercise
How long have you felt meh? Sometimes I might go a couple of weeks without it...probably end up doing this once a year in dark winter and then I end up feeling shit about not exercising and galvanise myself into action.
Could you switch up what you do? Like cycling outside and feeling the air and seeing blossom on trees and stuff?

I do kind of love the ache. It’s good to know you’ve actually worked.

Re: May Exercise
Probably about a month. In my 30s, I ran a lot and enjoyed it, then I kinda fell out of love with it. I started going to spin at that time (about 10 years ago) but I now feel about that, like I did about running, just bored of it. I need to find something else, I don't have a bike and tbh, I don't think I have the confidence to cycle on city roads, drivers in Glasgow are awful.Disco wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 11:37 am How long have you felt meh? I also have that nagging thought that I should be doing weights because bones, strength yada yada. I just find it massively boring though, everyone else seems to love it and is all "yay, strong women".
Really, I just want to be rich enough to have a PT who would make me work out every other day

Re: May Exercise
I love the post run aches that I get after a long run.
I did hill reps tonight. I did feel a small twinge in my knee but I am not doing anything now until Tuesday I would imagine. To be honest it is just lovely to walk up and downstairs like a normal person again, running is a bonus at the moment.

Re: May Exercise
I can totally identify with the falling in and out of love of running. It’s hard.
Like Dics, it’s now just part of my daily/weekly routine. I do it even if I don’t feel like it. It’s as much for my mental health as anything else. I am part of that “strong bones, old lady” team too ;)
Saturday has been a full body weights session with a biceps add on.

Re: May Exercise
Sunday morning 50 easy. 8.4km.
I ended up on the treadmill as I didn’t want to stray too far from home while the kids were on their own.
