Excel Help

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

Excel Help

Post by Duophonic »

Is anyone here good at Excel?

I've been given a set of data, and I need to show trends, successes, and areas for improvement.

I have no idea where to start.

Chatgpt and YouTube is your friend. If I'm looking to show trends over time and how things are performing I usually create some pivot tables which can then be turned into graphs and pie charts to visualise the results.

Tell us more about your dataset and we might be able to give a bit more guidance, if you can? Do you know what metrics are the most important to demonstrate whether something is successful or needs improvement?

Otherwise, if you have CoPilot in Excel then that can literally start doing some analysis for you. Similar to ChatGPT but as an AI assistant baked into Excel. It can also make graphs for you. Or like Jupes said you can give ChatGPT or other AI tool your file or even just the data table and ask it questions to start analysing it. However, it is helpful to know a bit about your dataset so that you can cross check or sanity check the answers it gives you.

Do you know if your data needs cleaning before it’s analysed?

Thanks guys.

The issue I had was it was a sample set of raw data which I'm not usually presented with. Our in house tools do all the cleanup and analysing so what I did was ChatGPT which got the main email engagement data out for me without having to mess around with pivots or graphs and I tabled that and made recommendations on what I saw.

If they were expecting a finely tuned spreadsheet, they haven't got it, they've got the basic engagement data and recommendations on how to improve that engagement.

Hopefully it's enough but I also had a deadline to meet so wanted it gone as quickly as possible. It's actually for a job interview as my current job is a bit of a shitshow right now. Guy that owns the company is heavily using AI so we're all being replaced with over 100 folk binned three weeks ago.

Best of luck with it. My place is being impacted heavily by AI also. My role is safe for now but unfortunately my husband works in the same company and his role is gone.

Thanks Duo. He has some breathing room and we could be in a worst place so it's not so bad for us.
