Probably quite pleased this is distracting from the record breaking death toll.

Biden: “pull back and allow the work of democracy to move forward".

"It's not a protest, it's an insurrection," Biden says, asking Donald Trump to "step up", go on television and "demand an end to this siege".

"Enough is enough," he says.

Most validated news reporting the Democrats have taken the Senate now. Might have another caramel log.

I wondered why there were no comments on his video address tweet.

"Twitter moved Wednesday to restrict engagement with tweets by President Trump and others that have been labeled “due to a risk of violence."
The announcement comes after hours of silence as violent rioters descended on the US Capitol, and amid mounting calls by the Anti-Defamation League and others for Trump’s Twitter account to be suspended outright."

CNN has declared Ossoff in Georgia. I really hope that doesn’t cause an escalation there too.

I'm worried about what might happen in DC and Atlanta after it gets dark.

The crowd seems to have thinned but the mob left look like they're set to stay

How they're not being led out in handcuffs is beyond me (let alone how they got in there in the first place). The whole situation is the definition of insane.

Every drop of blood spilled by this mob is on Trump’s hands.

This is MADDENING. Where are the riot police? Where is the national guard? Where is the tear gas and the violent arrests? Just for black people, right? Fuck sake.

They are there now, slowly and calmly clearing people. Obviously several hours too late.

The director of the CIA just said "oh we never considered that this could happen, that this was a threat". Guess you were too busy obsessing over people of colour, while something like 98% of terror incidents in the US were caused by white men, you fucking muppet.

Not several hours too late to demonstrably arrest people rather than gently clearing them from the area, surely!

I think they're trying to get most people outside to disperse without further escalation of tensions and violence? And probably dealing with the people actually inside more strongly.
I'd rather see violence deescalated, otherwise its fuel to the fire. Presumably its quite difficult to physically arrest and detain as many people as were visibly on the steps. Theres hundreds and hundreds
