Re: The Queen
I just went onto Westminster Abbey’s website and see that this is totally true - they have pictures of some of them! Here’s Henry VII and his wife Elizabeth of York. (Must visit Westminster Abbey….)

That’s fascinating, and slightly terrifying

That’s why they chose that route, I think. It goes under some railway arches and bridges, but I think you can do it without technically crossing the road (?). On the south bank, anyway.Edith Bacon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 11:10 am I’m amazed it has got so long without crossing a road so far, then.

Re: The Queen
I've enjoyed this live action thread by someone currently in The Queue, but it does reference a spot in Bermondsey where you do have to cross the road (they make you go in groups).

If she was smart, she'd sprinkle them through her trouser leg, The Great Escape style, in the same room the Queen is in. But then again if she was smart then she wouldn't be involved in this level of absolute madness to begin with.

Thanks, Goat. I’ve zoomed in but can’t tell where that is. It’s a good thread.Mountain Goat wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 1:01 pm I've enjoyed this live action thread by someone currently in The Queue, but it does reference a spot in Bermondsey where you do have to cross the road (they make you go in groups).

Re: The Queen
My pals in Bermondsey went to the pub yesterday and gave me live action videos of the queue growing before their very eyes. I'm off round their gaff on Sunday so I might spy The Queue for myself.
I'm thinking about going to Windsor on Monday which is madness, but my ma is vaguely keen.

Report back! I guess it has to stop in plenty of time before the funeral?

That's a really good thread, and I liked the photos of The Queue and London at night as they progressed.

Wow. I’ve just read that David Beckham’s in the queue, queuing like everybody else and not expecting special treatment (I mean good, he shouldn’t get it, but all the same.)

I’ve just seen on Twitter! He’s causing a small bottle neck as people photograph him.

It does feel that this is getting so parodically British that we must be about to breach some law of physics or thermodynamics or something.

Well, the £ has sunk to its lowest level for 37 years (Thank A Leave Voter part 337), so bread and circuses it is! Until it isn’t.

That thread was lovely, and the bits earlier on do indeed go right past my old flat, so it was weirdly nostalgic too I bet southwark park hasn’t seen that much action in years.

Re: The Queen
I thought it quite sweet that David Beckham queued up with everyone else and allowed people to take selfies with him: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/vid ... tate-video
My sister was going up to Green Park to look at the flowers. I may have said this before, but this is one of the very rare times I'm a bit sad that I'm not in London.

Re: The Queen
My friend has gone to Westminster. Not to join The Queue but just to look at The Queue. She just texted that there is a queue to look at The Queue.
