The airport, unprompted, issued a statement. Which was an anonydyne press release showing off, and mostly about some footballer. It just happened to also included Johnson's name. Whether 'it happened' by accident or someone was stirring is as yet unknown.

From the Italian paper reporting:
On the afternoon of Thursday September 17th, a famous Uruguayan Barcelona footballer, Luis Suarez, arrived in Perugia, welcomed by cheering fans and supporters, to take an Italian exam in order to obtain the Italian passport. Immediately afterwards, the international airport of Perugia issued a proud statement: "Over the past few days, many names and personalities from the political, sporting and economic world have arrived here in Perugia. From Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli to the British PM Boris Johnson, preceded by Tony Blair (former UK premier) and not least the champion footballer Luis Suarez from Barcelona, who landed this afternoon to take an Italian language exam at the University for Foreigners of Perugia. Umbria and our airport are at the center of the world at this end of the season, with more and more personalities choosing the "San Francesco d’Assisi" airport thanks to its strategic position in the center of Italy, the speed of connection and the always punctual and efficient service that the airport is able to guarantee”.

They just mentioned it in passing because some sport person had been to their airport and in the article they mentioned that they had also had other famous people recently, like Johnson. They weren't breaking it as dramatic news (at least not overtly).

Now rumours that it was actually even more recent, like the past couple of days?

I thought the baptism thing was what they had leaked to the tabloids to get them off the scent of them/him going off on a bender with the KGB, before they went.

Westminster Cathedral, prompting questions about whether Johnson has reverted to Catholicism. It’s all stinks of dead cat.

I wonder if we're distracting from all that finance stuff that's leaked today? I can't be bothered understanding that, I've filed it under 'capitalism is all run by Russian oligarchs and we're doomed'. :))

The Abbey isn't, you might have been thinking of that.

Was Johnson born Catholic, then? That's still unusual for people who go to Eton, I think? (Edit; not that unusual nowadays.)

I read that his mother was Catholic and he abandoned it for CofE some years ago.

Is it the Abbey that has all the notable dead people in it? I think that's what I might have been thinking. Mum and I were going to go in once to look at Byron or someone but it was £££s and we were already exhausted by tourisming. :))

OBVIOUSLY I believe anyone of any religion can be PM, but can we hang Johnson for treason or summat if he turns out be a practising Catholic now? :))

Wasn't there some poet who didn't want to be chucked in the Abbey and they compromised and cut out his heart and buried that where he lived and then stuffed the rest of him in Westminster? *vague*

Wordsworth? Or one of the Romantics. Not Keats, Mary Shelley carried his heart (or possibly liver) around with her for ages, didn't she?

I'm fine here, just having a little conversation with myself about the post mortem dismemberment of literary figures. Don't worry. :))
