Ilhan Omar said something about impeachment articles too.

As far as I can see the only reason not to invoke the 25th is the fear of provoking more violence if things are otherwise calming down.

I think using the 25th amendment might be like throwing petrol on a fire right now.

That's probably true. It would be so nice though. :wistful:

Has the 25th ever been invoked before?

It’s been used voluntarily e.g. when Bush needed surgery but not used to declare someone unfit.

Yep.

13 days and then we can start to undo Trump's damage.

Trumpers will still be here, but people like them always were, they've just been made loud and proud by that monster.

Yes. It would achieve very little, I think. Far better to start putting the case together for his various felonies/charges etc.

Talking about it might wind down a few more days though, they don’t actually have to do it, just the threat might be enough to dial down some of the crazy?

I don't think it would, I think if anything it would make his supporters see him as even more of a martyr.

I agree. And I don't think anything could hurt him as much as having all his social media taken away, anyway. Looks like those around him are already circumventing him with decisions so, without Twitter, he has nothing.

Did you see his concession speech? It was the weirdest thing. Obviously, someone else wrote it for him. He looked so uncomfortable you could almost believe he had a gun to his head, like a kidnap victim!

Here it is https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/08/poli ... index.html.

He was so clearly reading it word for word. He sounded almost normal.

So he actually can read normally and clearly from a teleprompter, and has just been refusing to do it for the past 4 years.

There were lots of edits in it. I’m pretty sure it had to be spliced together to edit out whenever he went off script.

He’s already rolled it back with his last tweet. Inciting more violence by reminding his supporters that he won’t be at the inauguration.

Eh? I thought he was banned from Twitter? Or is it just the POTUS account, not the Trump account / the other way round?

To be honest, it doesn't look or sound like his normal self, so I'm not surprised.

He’s been allowed back on.

At least he’s saying he won’t go now, because I half expected him to turn up and try to get sworn in himself.

Yeah, he had to delete some tweets and then he could come back.

Same, Pip, I would half expect him to rush the stage

You just know he'll be crowing about Biden having smaller crowds even though Biden has said it should be this way due to Covid.

He only lasted hours after being let back on. Twitter has now permanently banned Trunp’s account.

That's so funny.

You just know that he's furiously one finger typing on some dark, dark corners of the internet now/ soon appealing to his 12 fingered hillbillies.
