I don’t know what’s going on but, as ever, it is something shady and not at all what is being presented to us.

Or, the government are, as ever, a shower of egos with no principles who are turning on each other now the shit is about to hit the fan.

I can't actually, linguistically, make head nor tale of these words:
Mr Johnson held a 45-minute meeting with Mr Cummings and Mr Cain on Friday to discuss their “general behaviour” this week, according to individuals with knowledge of the conversation.
So far, so legible.
In tense exchanges, Mr Johnson accused his aides of briefing against him and his partner Carrie Symonds and criticised them for destabilising the government in the midst of tense Brexit negotiations.
What does 'briefing against' mean in this context? Holding meetings and giving briefs? "Saying rude things?" What does it matter if someone says stuff about Carrie Symonds - even the most lurid accusations are mere gossip.
Mr Johnson showed the aides text messages that had been forwarded to Ms Symonds, who opposed Mr Cain’s appointment as chief of staff, to show they had briefed against her. He told them to get out and never return.
"Briefed against her"? What is that? Talked about her in texts?

This weird, coy use of "briefed against" seems like they're legally trying to hide stuff. Or no one really knows.

There is no way Cummings would leave on any other terms than his own. Barnard castle proved that. He’s up to something.

Robert Peston has tweeted that the Johnson/Cummings/Carrie screenshots stuff is untrue.

I just (as ever) don't think this is a clever conspiracy cooked up to distract us from something else the government are doing because I can never, ever, credit them with the competence to do it .

Walking out the front door and carrying his measly box are just a massive fuck you and another way of proving he doesn't give a shit about the way things are normally done, like turning up to work in downing Street looking like a hobo and all that.

But, I'm sure DC has got his eyes on several other ways to make the country a tangibly worse place to live in because, well, hes spent his entire career doing that by all accounts. :ruby:

What’s really got my goat is that DC’s office isn’t even in Downing Street. So the big exit isn’t much of one.

Yes, his box probably contained a couple of nicked biros and a spare printer cartridge.

I also don't believe this government is competent enough for any big conspiracy.

Boris has been in contact with an MP who has tested positive for covid so is self-isolating.

Ch4 news said earlier that he had a very stressful week ahead so that'll save the lazy bastard actually doing anything.

If he can still run the country while in intensive care then he shouldn’t have any problem when he’s just confined to his house. Lazy bastard.

Got some tricky questions to be answered? Don't fancy your chances against Keir Starmer in this week's PMQs? Ooh, I'm pretty sure I heard someone cough 3 doors down so I better self isolate for a couple of weeks/months/forfuckingever.

It’s such a shame we’re 4 years away from a GE.

JRM is being a dick about Zoom, but he’d make an exception for him I guess.
