There's probably going to be an election.
How will you vote?

Re: Ho ho ho! Merry Election 2019?
Tell me who I should vote for. Unfortunately I don't live in the good bits of Bristol where decent people win.
I live in the Kingswood constituency. It's only ever been Tory or Labour here (Labour for the 90's and 00s, Tory since 2010) Lib Dems have been a very distant 3rd or 4th in recent times. If UKIP or TBP stand they tend to knock LD into 4th. LD only got 3% of the vote in the last two elections. This constituency voted to leave by a few %. In the recent EU elections, the wider unitary authority voted for leave leaning parties (slightly).
It's labour or in effect, helping the Tories win, isn't it?

You should include 'none of the cunts' as an option, I reckon.

Also an option for “it’s my work night out that day so I’ll be too busy/pissed”.

SNP here. I don't know who I would vote for if I couldn't vote for them.

I live(d) in a very safe Lib Dem area (apart from a very brief Tory period) and Vince Cable is my MP but he said he was going to step down at the next GE.
I’m a bit worried as I think it’s always been a safe LD seat thanks to Vince and I don’t know it’ll stay so overwhelmingly Liberal with a new MP. I’ve seen Chuka’s name pop up as a likely successor.

Chuka has announced which constituency he's going to stand in I think.
eta: Yes, City of London and Westminster constituency.

If you want to stop Brexit you need to vote for the Lib Dems. Labour doesn't know what it wants to do.

I’m going to look very closely. I’m in a Leave area with a long-standing Labour MP who is stepping down. Lib Dems usually third behind the Tories. Local elections Lib Dems so much better and I’ve seen it on a list of marginal seats.
So, I’ll probably have to vote Labour unless it looks like it’ll go Lib Dem. ugh though. I’m going to have to make Mr C vote that way too.

I’ve just googled and seen who is standing for Twick and it’s not Chuka.

I will be between constituencies and out of the country on the day.
Not sure who I will vote for this time. Will never ever vote Conservative but the others don't fill me with inspiration.
A spoiled postal vote? Maybe.

But if you live in an area that would need an implausibly large swing to actually get a LD candidate to win, you have to chose between Pissing your vote away on a candidate who is never going to win, or deciding what is the least worst next option.

In a weird way, it’s a kind of luxury living in a Tory safe seat. It won’t stop me turning myself inside out over it.smalex wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 5:05 pm But if you live in an area that would need an implausibly large swing to actually get a LD candidate to win, you have to chose between Pissing your vote away on a candidate who is never going to win, or deciding what is the least worst next option.

Yeah, that's the thing. Labour realistically could win here. I'm having such a battle with myself about what the right thing to do is.
I really think if one or other of the FascistsRUs parties stands (they didn't in 2017) it'll make a big difference here. If the sitting Tory lost 6 or 7 thousand votes (which is what UKIP got in 2015) he'd probably get beaten into 2nd by Labour.
