I am not a royalist but I’m really unsure what we’d replace them with. We don’t have a great record for sensible voting recently.

Maybe we should have a referendum on it.

No, AFAIK only Charles' children are working royals. I just saw that Andrew tried to get his daughters back on the pay roll in 2016 but the Queen refused :))

We’ve been discussing this at work today and quite a few of us think that as Prince Harry is now so far down the line of succession he really ought to receive no more money from the crown... I agree but as he’s the child of the future king I can’t see it happening.

I love the Queen, and Wills and Harry. If they skipped Charles and went straight for Wills that would be ok.

This is my Mum's whole argument. :lg: "You'd get David Beckham!"

We could always just chop them out of the constitution and leave the top two with a low paid role welcoming tourists to Buck Palace. :))

Did you know Prince Andrew's character will be played by Kevin Spacey in S4 of The Crown? :))

Honestly, the Yorks are just abysmal hangers-on, aren't they? He's disgusting and they can get to fuck. Prince Andrew has been cashing ££££ in expenses for decades for poncing about on paedo's yachts.

I'm a total republican but the whole of recent politics has made me very wary of getting rid of them completely. I can be talked into keeping the Queen and the younger Waleses in this current shit-show political climate.

I'd be ok with that :))

The Irish have managed to elect good presidents, it can be done!

That was Jeremy Paxman's reasoning too, Ruby - years spent dealing with vile politicians made him re-assess his republican beliefs

Beckham is no better! He treats Victoria appallingly. I would not want his weak-chinned visage on my fivers.

I am hopeful Charles will come through a good'un. :look:

At least Beckham is nice to look at.

He's probably more intelligent than the Royals too. Democracy is overrated though.

Beckham is a serial adulterer who has no shame. On my last charity thing I met someone who is good friends with him who said he is very nice but he "has women throwing themselves at him". Like that's an excuse. I don't know much about Philip but I don't think Charles is like that; I don't think Charles has women throwing themselves at him.

I don't think he's fit, either. I've never seen the attraction. If I saw him on Tinder it'd be a swipe left.

Democracy is a great idea; it just never works when you start involving people.

Andrew was always known as the playboy prince and randy Andy back in his Navy days. He was associated with soft porn actress Koo Stark who seems very tame by today's standards, but he has always had form for this sort of thing. The Queen must wonder where she went wrong with him and Charles.

Gosh, I wonder how one can go wrong when you give children immense wealth and privilege and train them to expect deference from an entire country just by dint of being born :mog:. It's hard to imagine :woteva:

That's not the Queen's fault though, and Edward and Anne don't behave like that. At their age they are capable of making their own decisions; how you are or aren't brought up stops being relevant when you're in your 50s.

I get Koo Stark mixed up with India Hicks for some reason. I don't think she likes being called a porn star though! https://www.pressgazette.co.uk/prince-a ... tar-libel/

I don't imagine the Queen has that insight herself and has just wrung her hands whilst Philip stomps around blaming the bleeding press for everything.
