New World Order - Politics 2021

Post by Bat Macdui »

Intended as a catch all for politics, Brexit, state of the Union etc and started entirely so I can ask if anyone else just watched Keir? :))

I thought he hit exactly the sort of notes he needed to to keep me interested enough, sell himself to R's Daily Mail reading mother and make eyes at all those wankers in Leigh who voted a Tory in last time. :)) Good lad. I remain entirely not keen on all the flag and Second World War bullshit but I like the way he flogged that as building back.

I didn't see him, no. I'm not a flag shagger and I hate that sort of shit but, to be quite honest, that is needed to get elected and therefore it's all fine by me. You have to stop letting people like Farage make flags into some sort of ridiculous culture war. We've had the most divisive decade ever, in terms of politics, and it can't be allowed to carry on.

I also missed him.

Given that every single Tory politician has a union flag beside them, I think he’s needed to do it.

Hmm, I'm torn about the flag shagging because while it may be a necessary evil in England, its a huge turn off to Scottish voters. Now on one level, I want independence for Scotland so Labour losing votes here would help with that, but I would like an effective opposition, especially since it looks like the SNP might implode.

It was a bit of a compromise flag, it was off at an angle and blurred. :))

I also missed seeing Keir. Where has he been, recently? I'm not really sure what my opinion is of him at the mo, he feels a bit MIA.

I haven't really been paying attention to Al Vs Nic, can someone summarise? Or, is this about right- They fell out for some reason and then he got accused of assault and she was told but maybe pretended she'd been told, and then the allegation came out and she didn't throw herself in front of him in defence and then he was found innocent but feels like A Politician Scorned so now he's trying to bring her dooowwwwnnn by pointing out that she knew and then said she forgot about being told?

Is the session today going to be disastrous for Nicola? I hate him, obv.

:mog: Oh yes. My feelings are the same. I don't really care what Nicola has been doing. I just hate Alex Salmond. Also, the key issue is that Alex Salmond wants to say something in a document but it's been redacted. But there is a very limited amount they can say on the news about something that's been redacted so all the news is talking about nothing.

I think that's what I can't quite grasp. Everyone seems to talk about it all really gravely and I can't really understand why.

Same. I listened to the Today programme, yesterday and today, and still don't really understand what's going on. When you care less about Alex Salmond than almost anyone else on the planet, it's hard to summon up the interest.

I'm the same with the Prince Harry thing. I mean, the press are shits and I feel sorry for Meghan Markle, and all she's been through, but I can't summon up any passion on either side.

YES! I roll my eyes equally at both sides of the argument. Boo hoo, Harry left, he didn't personally kick the Queen in the face. But also, Dude. James Cordon? C'mon.

The Alex Salmond thing is terrifying me. If he fucks up our chance of independence that is utterly unforgiveable.

It’s another case of a man putting his ego before a nation. (See also, David Cameron, Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un).
