I'd put good money on this all being driven by Gove. Where is it his wife works again?

Gove's high if he thinks he'll ever be leader of the Tory party. He probably is literally high right now, actually.

I read the Mail article and it was clearly written by Mr and Mrs Sarah Vine. A spokesperson for Mr Gove said "Michael said SAVE ALL THE PEOPLE but Boris just wouldn't listen, the hard hearted toad." I paraphrase.

Which is funny because I distinctly remember a Sarah Vine tweet or column in which she emphasized that not every life could be saved and she was OK with that. She's a double agent!

:)) Henry Newman, who Cummings blamed for the leak, worked at the Cabinet Office for Gove so it's not hard to join the dots. I agree he'll never be leader (surely), he has so many enemies.

He's like Terminator. He wants it and he will never stop. :))

Is Gove worse than Johnson? Relatively speaking, I mean, as obviously they are all awful!

Would you rather I cut off your leg or arm? Both awful for different reasons :)

I've seen reports that it was Boris himself who called newspaper editors to tell them it was Cummings who was behind leaks (not the Mail though ;) ). Why the hell would you luck that hornet's nest and get Cummings in your back?

A chinless Terminator.

He's vile and about as good at accepting responsibility as Johnson. They're all much of a muchness to my mind though: vomit-inducing.

I think Gove is possibly more intelligent than Johnson (not really hard) but still utterly untrustworthy and only out for himself is the longer answer for me, Sal.

Johnson's no fool. He's repellent, but he's not unintelligent.

Yes, I think Johnson is much smarter than he lets on. He plays the fool because it suits him to do so.

Johnson is very clever and very, very lazy. That's why he can't govern and why he needed Cummings. He's also venal and unimaginative. But still, clever.

No, that's true, I don't think he's a fool. I do, however, think he's very lazy and that affects how much time and effort he is willing to put into learning about or dealing with things. He makes a play about being good at delegating when he was mayor but I think that was a lot to do with laziness and just wanting the glory and not much has changed. He never thought he'd be dealing with something like this though obviously, only that he'd get Brexit 'glory' as he saw it.

Oh aye, he's a lazy bastard, and being PM is definitely harder work than he imagined.

Being PM during a global pandemic, an' all. It warms the heart, I say. :hbeat:

Totally. He could never have imagined it. Anyway, hope springs eternal that something'll bring him down. #optimist
