I heard from a friend who works in that area that Poots is odds on, and he's a evolution denying women hater.

I was already thinking any alternative is unlikely to be a huge deal better.

NB: these two sentences aren't linked.

A raging bigot might turn some moderates off, no? Naturally Goat is better informed than I am, the Guardian article does actually say Poots is a front runner: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... ene-foster.

I know nothing but it's my friend's area, she was messaging Ian Paisley Jr during dinner one time I saw her. :look: She says she doesn't have any inside info or anything though, just that Poots seems to be considered be the most likely.

Do we think that they're going to get rid of Starmer after Hartlepool?

I hope not. He's had a year, in a pandemic, post-brexit, and this is one constituency.

But hey. Why not. Probably reinstall Corbyn just to drive another nail in the coffin.

 Speaking my brains, smal.

I've blocked Owen Jones on Twitter but took a peek at his take on things and am now murderous, obviously. WHEN WILL I LEARN THAT BLOCKING PEOPLE AND KEEPING THEM BLOCKED IS FOR MY OWN SANITY!?

For your own health, AVOID. Not that I think OJ really has much influence, but WHO HAVE THOUGHT consistently undermining someone from, like, day one of a job, in turbulent times, wouldn't be helpful.

You're quite right. He is such an absolute wanker. I've ruined my own Friday morning and I've no-one to blame but myself.

I might need a burger at lunch to remedy this.

Wouldn't Labour be better with Andy Burnham as leader? I know he's aiming to be King of the North but it seems like Starner is just regarded as metropolitan elite, and Andy is at least a Northerner.

It's so utterly depressing that places like Hartlepool which have been decimated by Tory austerity cannot see who's to blame. They just seem to blame it all on EU and immigration. Of course, the media's constant hyping of this, and their endless promotion of Farage didn't help with this.

I actually have no idea who would work. I'm not sure Andy Burnham would go down well in those traditional Tory strongholds and Home Counties type places well enough to get a swing. To a lot of people he just looks like a dirty, gobby Northerner in an anorak. Which is clearly a vote winner in Manchester but possibly not in the Cotswolds. :)) Keir should really be working as a compromise candidate and still could, I think he's had a tough year to try and get a message out and he's made a start but he's still got a BIG mess to clean up.
