She’s absolutely crooked, has been for decades. I hate all of this :obvious:.

Great bit of telly. If only it was an actual soap rather than true life.

I’ve met him a few times through work and he’s a decent guy (for a Tory), really looks after his constituents and his local area. I’m really pleased he’s done this.

And a lot holding fire to see which way the wind is blowing.

I find it outrageous that he lied about lovely Keir in parliament & has got away with it.

I'm convinced this was just to be a distraction so we'd get all outraged about it and forget the actual issue in the first place.

Is there going to be a coup? Is Sunak gearing up to put himself foward?

People seem to be resigning in droves in Downing St and Rishi is distancing himself from Boris.

They discussed the Mirza resignation letter on the Newscast podcast - apparently she’s worked with him for 14 years and is described as his “brain”, and that her resignation will be a huge personal blow. I do find it a bit odd that the whole letter is about Starmer though - maybe I pay too much attention to US politics, but I’m surprised any of his cronies would care that he was making awful claims.

Mirza going is huge! She's worked closely with him since he was Mayor of London and is central to the culture wars stuff.

I wondered that too. Why is this lie worse than the other lies? Like they're all there shaking their heads going "he accused a man of being connected to a case at work he wasn't connected with. That's it, lads. I can't anymore."

It's strange that this one's broke the backs of various camels when he's lied multiple times a day, for years, to everyone.

She must have been looking for a point of principle to resign on.

It’s a step too far and aligns him with the crazies? Also, it was a provable lie, in Parliament.

And it's been the last straw for a lot of backbenchers and opened the door for a vote of no confidence. All these things.

It's just rats leaving a sinking ship, it's not like Mirza's found any sort of morality after 14 years by Johnson's side.

I think it's all gone a bit last straw. My gossip sheet this morning pointed out that Mirza's team were based, physically, in Cabinet Office and weren't part of the No. 10 parties, so they're well pissed off. Partly because they're implicated by association (not many people are going to know that tiny detail) and partly probs FOMO. :))

And I like Ian Dunt's note that this is good. It shows there is a level. It's a lot lower than we'd like, but there is, apparently, a point where the Tories generally will recoil.
