George crying has set me off.

Re: The Queen
I was in London this weekend for a family trip which has been booked since January. We were down at the London Eye on Friday afternoon and walking back to our hotel I asked a couple in the queue how long it had taken them to get to that point. 9 hours! They had joined the queue at 7.30am. It did upset us a bit to see so many elderly people in the queue who were obviously struggling.FiveO'Clock wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 3:12 pm I cannot believe the stamina of the people in The Queue

Re: The Queen
I full on sobbed when the pipes and drums and the procession started.
I'm not watching the service.

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

At The King's request, the wreath contains foliage of Rosemary, English Oak and Myrtle (cut from a plant grown from Myrtle in The Queen's wedding bouquet) and flowers, in shades of gold, pink and deep burgundy, with touches of white, cut from the gardens of Royal Residences.
Someone is crying in the background, poor soul; I hope they're being given a cuddle or at least a hand hold.

I thought that. A well placed bomb and the world would change forever.FiveO'Clock wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 11:28 am The funeral is on every channel here. I'm curious about the security, this must be the most dangerous venue.

Re: The Queen
When I was working at Sheffield cathedral and the Queen visited, the security was incredibly tight but almost entirely invisible on the actual day of the visit. Hourly security sweeps in the two days leading up to the visit, people on the roof, security people looking like ordinary members of the public everywhere in the crowds, doors being locked that were usually open and vice versa so that normal access routes were changed - it was a revelation into how much goes on behind the scenes.

I wonder if the piper is the same as the one who was at Prince Philip's funeral. It is so, so beautiful my heart hurts.
