I think she's delusional/mentally ill and it's not her.
I've seen so many comments regarding the family initially denying DNA testing as 'proof' they "know what happened to Madeline" that my eyes rolled straight out of my head.

I don't know, I would really like them to solve the case so a part of me is willing it to be her. There is a small chance it could be......

There is about as much chance that Boris Johnson could be Madeleine McCann.

She's clearly unwell but also, I don't see any similarities at all! She posted (then deleted) pictures of who she though her Mum was and that similarity was striking. Sorry state of affairs, I'd imagine this isn't the first or last instance of someone thinking/claiming they're her.

I feel very sorry for all concerned, but she is not Madeleine

You can't have an operation to sort out the pupil 'defect' that Madeleine had.
I would love for her to be alive, but I don't for one second think she is.

I think it’s absolute bollocks and the poor woman is a nutter.

Like Squirrel, this is absolute horseshit and I am surprised it has even been given any oxygen by any publication.

Yeah, to be honest I would have thought this has probably happened lots of times, surely? Not sure why this one is being talked about more than others.

Just supposing people believed her, and she became accepted as MM - what sort of life would she have? The relationship with her parents would be strained at best, the media would never leave her alone, and she would always be a target for kidnappers and trolls.
I don't think it's her, but neither do I think that she has properly thought this through.

This. A well person would have contacted the family privately.

Surely a quick DNA test would confirm or deny though? I don’t think people would need to believe or accept she’s MM?
And agree, Luna, on that basis she could have privately sought out the family/representatives to get a DNA test.

I bet the family get a ton of requests for DNA testing of randoms. I don’t blame them for not doing all of them, especially when the evidence is as flimsy as this is.

The police will have the McCann's DNA on file; I don't understand why this woman is trying to contact anyone other than the police (unless for fame & grifting).
Her eye defect isn't the same as Madeleine's, or in the same place. I think she's very troubled but not MM.

That's what i assumed, rosy (that the police would have the DNA), but I suppose they have to draw the line at testing all comers. There is a superficial likeness to Madeleine, and probably people have mentioned it, particularly with the eye thing, but it seems highly unlikely.

Reminds me of the 2012 Netflix doc about a guy who claimed to be a Texan family's missing son, called
The Imposter.

Sorry I was on the move and never came back to this thread. The first article I read (and have lost the link to) seemed to make out that there was more to this claim than a lot of the others (that I would have known nothing about). I suppose that's what piqued my interest. I didn't realise there had been so many others. A pity. I did think the Portuguese detective was a bit off, when he said he'd be "disappointed" if this girl did turn out to be Madeleine. Eh???

I really, really hope they find the little one in the reservoir.

If Bruckner is denying involvement, why are they searching there again, I wonder?
