She sang Mon Truc en Plumes by Zizi Jeanmaire!
Oooops! :look: There you go. That's what comes of watching in a crowded Irish pub. I'm not familiar with Mon Truc en Plumes. I'm off to find a video. :))
Did she sing two songs? I'm definitely right about Hymne a L'Amore.

Ah! That makes sense. We missed her entirely and someone in the pub said she sang La Vie en Rose. I'm rather glad she didn't. Sadly, I can only find a brief snippet of her singing Mon Truc en Plume, but OMG! The pink feathers!

There were bits I didn't like (the cancan dancers who seemed uncoordinated and unenthusiastic, the drag acts) and bits I did (the Marseillaise on the rooftop, the silver horse, the parkour torch bearer, Guillaume Diop, Gaga and Celine, the hot air balloon cauldron). I think they took a brave decision to not have a stadium based ceremony and some of it worked and some didn't; it was probably better on TV than it was for the audience.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.

The main BBC coverage is annoying me already. Too much studio chat and not enough action. iPlayer and Discovery+ it is.

Is anyone watching the women’s 3m synchro diving? Those poor Australian women. I feel so bad for them.

Bless them. It was dogshit. I keep remembering bits from last night. That throuple! :mog:

I agree that other countries were confused by 2012, but at least it wasn't actively bad.

The minions! Oh I'm sorry, it was so shit. I feel the modern performing arts are not a French strength.

Apparently the German TV commentators just stopped in horror/puzzlement/WTF/ when blue smurf ballsack man started. So they never even got an explanation.

I like the rooftop Marseilleise, the thrash metal + decapitatated Marie Antoinettes. The horse was dramatic initially but became boring after 40 bloody minutes of galloping, as did the endless back and forth with the flame. And the drag queen threesomes edgy catwalk was also just really boring in the end. Mind you, I also got bored of the house party section of the UK ceremony. :uhh: Celine was cool though.

I wouldn't like to have been in charge of boat sourcing and allocations

"What's this tiny, shitty, dull grey thing you've got? It looks like a reject from a D-Day museum. We can't put anyone in that!"

"Oh, just give it to [insert tiny island nation literally nobody has heard of], it'll be fine"

I’m glad someone else picked up on the tiny shit boats, Rebs! Seemed a bit off!

I missed that the drag thing was supposed to be the last supper?? Really?! Blue Dionysus was utterly bizarre. I also can’t believe the ménage a trois was actually something they played on.

Anyway, I was watching the diving and the Aussie mistake was shocking! Especially after the commentators basically said they’d need to really fuck it up for us to get bronze - and then they did! But that’s the way it goes. Our girls dived well!

Anyway, good day for men so far in the gymnastics and both rowing 4s are in the final which is good!

Yeah, people forget that cringey texting part of the 2012 ceremony. It went on forever.

When I think back to last night, there were lots of individually good bits that would have been better if you could see or hear them properly in, you know, a stadium?

A stadium would have definitely been better, but I think almost all Olympic ceremonies would be improved by cutting an hour or so of content :) .

I forgot- I loved the Minions last night.

Even if you think you hate rugby- the men’s final in the 7s looks set to be amazing. France - the crowd are in fine form and voice in the stadium- vs Fiji who’ve never lost a game at the Olympic.

Rugby 7s is such a good sport to add to the Olympics. It’s fast paced, brutal and all over in 15 minutes.

I really enjoyed the men's semi-finals! S was gutted NZ didn't get that far, but GB (the men) didn't even qualify.
