They're doing fencing in there and the French always clean up in that!

Aha, that’s what we thought but thanks for confirming! We saw someone in the full fencing garb nearby yesterday.

Je t'en prie. ;) They look like foil-wearing astronauts, right? I work for a French company that sponsors various athletes, including fencers, so I'm trying to pay attention. :))

I still haven’t seen any of the mountain biking yet.
After how many years of swimming does it take before the swimmers to stop thinking “bugger, this is cold” when they dive in?

We’ve put the volleyball on back in the hotel room. Serbia are beating France. It’s a very strange game. I was really surprised by Squeak’s knowledge of it.

Re: Paris 2024
Just saw a summary of the horsey shit from Versailles today and Princess Anne giving out the medals. It was the first time that God Save The King has been played at the Olympics since 1948. I have visions of her nudging the horsey riding people and saying “this is about my brother you know”
And I have now finally seen the mountain biking. Jesus. Not sure I could have watched the full 90 minutes of that. How they stayed on their bikes after the Frenchman swerved into Pidcock just before the end was incredible.

They’re not going to get a medal. Squeak knows a few of them though. She’s done some training with Meg Jones & her girlfriend because they live near us, and Celia had the same injury as Lex.

Re: Paris 2024
Fair enough, I know next to nothing about it! Fun to watch though and it must be cool to know some of the national team!
It seems some of the boxing judges have been paid off to go against any GB fighters. At least three of our boxers have had what looked like winning bouts not go their way based on a “split decision” in the final round. We could knock someone out and they’d lift their arm off the mat to award them the win! :verm:

Re: Paris 2024
Those did look like dubious calls from the tiny bit I saw in some highlights but I think it's a bit outrageous that boxing is considered a sport so I can't get too exercised over it. ;)
Did the French boo Tom Pidcock because he won it because they were upset about the barging? I'd have been pissed off about that if it were the other way round, to be fair.
I was pleased that Tom Daly has another medal. And that Simone Biles is doing so well, although it doesn't look like the GB women are going to do much.
I watched some skateboarding and it's pretty boring. Even the tricks are just sliding down a rail. It also doesn't seem very stylish to keep getting off and on again.

Did you not play volleyball at school Pip? We did. Not that I can remember the rules!

I think we did it once and all I remember is the pain from my forearms. She was telling me all about where the Libero & Setter can go, which impressed me.

We never did volleyball at school. Just netball and hockey, and once a year we got to do badminton.

Re: Paris 2024
We've missed loads due to one thing or another.
We watched some of the gymnastics, Peaty and the GB women's 7s against Australia. I thought they played well but Australia just played better.
I need to catch up on the cycling and the gymnastics before the track events start.

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Well, GB we’re rubbish in that. Squeak is embarrassed.
