Thanks, Glint. Yes, he is about as chuffed as he gets anyway. Excited to find out if his friends all got their school of choice.

No, no mandatory vaccines in the UK. It's not the lack of coercion that's the problem, it's idiots spreading misinformation, largely on social media, and Bloody Wakefield has a lot to answer for.
Good news about the school, LM, although I'm furious for R. It's not good enough that exceptions are made for religious beliefs but not for genuine anxiety.

Re: Secondary Considerations
J has decided against A levels. He's still determined to work as a zoo keeper and it looks like an animal care and management T level is the way to go. He has done a lot of research and put me in contact with former keepers, who all say that experience and contacts are more important than qualifications, so he's talked me round. I'm a bit nervous about him narrowing his options so early, but he has been so mature about the whole thing that it's hard to argue (and his biology probably isn't strong enough for a zoology degree, anyway). He knows that the earning potential is extremely limited, so is already thinking about what he needs to move into research later on. The plan is T levels, foundation degree in zoological management, then the extra year to convert to a BSc unless he gets offered a job at that point.

It sounds like he’s given it a lot of thought and research! Best of luck to him, it sounds like a good career choice for him.

I think that sounds so brilliant Lora and a testament to you that he’s so clear in his mind about what he wants!

Yes! It's very annoying that it's so easy to opt out for other reasons. I found out the lovely clinic nurse sent her letter to the health unit as well as giving me a copy, but we still got the suspension notice.

I think it's brilliant that J is so focused at such a young age. Best of luck to him!

Re: Secondary Considerations
That sounds very similar to L Lora. I was expecting him to do a levels but he was adamant that agricultural college was what he wanted to do.

That's very kind, but I think Andy Day deserves more credit than me

This is good to know. I think more and more people are taking the less traditional options, which I am all in favour of in theory, but am a bit of an education dinosaur still.Texaco Shirley wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 6:10 pm That sounds very similar to L Lora. That also sounds very like my Joe. He is set on an apprenticeship, and also looked into it all and mapped it out himself.

Re: Secondary Considerations
L had an offer holders open day at his uni of choice yesterday which went well. He seems to be more certain about going now and we’ve done his accommodation application.
