Jack had a complete meltdown on his second induction day and had to be peeled off me. He's almost done with S1 now and it's really been the making of him. We've had a few difficult days, but he really loves it.

I’ve just been working out how much uniform is going to cost for high school! :faint:

I didn’t think ours was going to be too bad, then I started adding in PE kit.

I was starting to order ours this morning. The beauty of strict is once you have it you just add as you need as they grow but that initial outlay. Ffs.

Jack's has been OK, but he goes to a SEN school so it's just polo and trousers, then whatever they want for PE.

I suspect Joe's will be extortionate next year though.

We had to pay £76 last week for blazer, tie, PE socks, hoodie & shorts set. There was a load of additional Nike branded PE stuff but Squeak basically lives in sports gear so I’m sure we have the other bits that will suffice or can pick them up easily.

L can have supermarket trousers and jumpers but logoed shirts, tie and blazer. He also has a polo shirt, rugby shirt, PE hoodie and socks which are all logoed.

I spent about £150 on new, full uniform and pe kit for E starting secondary school last September and they are changing it this year :ruby: although they've given a year’s grace to make the switch. Thankfully, E wants to keep wearing her old one as long as possible so I’ve got time to buy new stuff in small batches.

Blazer, tie (2), PE T-shirt (2), rugby shirt, shorts, socks, sweatshirt and trackies comes to £137. There will also need to be three kinds of footwear, I think. I’ll get trousers and shirts from the supermarket as normal.

It’s mad. I expect I’ll have to find more fashionable skirts and trousers now too. The bag she wanted cost enough. Thankfully we got that half price but it was still ££.

L’s school insists on a specific box pleat skirt (assuming they don’t choose to wear trousers). Surprisingly I haven’t heard of any mutiny over it.

When the time comes I have to buy everything from the school. I’m surprised they don’t have to wear logo’d underwear too! That’s if he gets into the school he wants that is.

My sister used to spend her own money on super trendy skirts and when the school switched to strict she just told them we were poor and she had to wear my old stuff. My mum was mortified.

I've not priced ours up. The extras will be the thing, T doesn't overly care if it's a Tesco jacket but I doubt that will last long.

God, I'd forgotten about this. There's so much shit to buy for N. I know from experience though that there's no point buying all the PE kit and they definitely didn't need an apron. :woteva:

Yes! There’s an optional sweatshirt and joggers (with logo obvs) but will he wear it? He likes to be warm but who knows. Also, a friend told me that unless they’re in top set PE, they don’t even wear the rugby shirt for the first year!

So 80s!

We only did that in second year. We spent the first year making the apron. Black gingham.

I didn’t buy any of the optional stuff to start with (on the advice of the man in the uniform shop) but I did go back for a PE hoodie a couple of months in.
