Like Michael Jackson and alive in the eighties are brilliant.
I've got my first one. J was taking things out of drawers in the bedroom and held up my strapless bra and said 'hat!'.

I was one of the lucky 80s be-uniformed kids. I don't know any schools that didn't have them, actually. YOU ARE TEACHING YOUR CHILD LIESPippedydeadeye wrote:I was shopping with Squeak in M&S this evening and she started asking me why I didn't have a school uniform at primary school (she finds this completely boggling and talks about it a lot). I said, "well in the eighties, not many primary schools had uniforms, they came in later".
"You were alive in the eighties?!"
The woman behind us actually guffawed.

I should have known that would cause consternation. In the 80s, in South East Derbyshire, I went to two separate primary schools which didn't have uniforms and so that pretty much was my world then.

I got a surprise call this morning from the children's centre for a follow up on G's speech (apparently the lady that did his 2 year check wrote in her report to check him in 6 months, I suppose because he barely muttered two words in her presence). They only wanted to know if I had any concerns, and I was telling them that his vocab is good and he's making longer sentences etc etc when he burst in from the next room and said, "phone down NOW, Mummy, it's BALLOON BASH TIME!" and ran off again. So he's bossy, but his speech seems fine .

I went to several schools in the 1980's. Two had uniforms, two didn't. I helped.

A got his animated characters a bit confused yesterday "That's Bob Squodge Bear Pants!"
Re: Juvenile Jibber Jabber
:lol Aw!
Charlie informed me in a very solemn voice last night that she needed to be changed because, "I have poop soup." I said, "Poop soup?" and she said, "Yes, Mummy. In my pants."
Diarrhea is the medical term, but poop soup definitely described it properly.

Oh god Joe had a bit of a dodgy stomach in Disneyland and asked me if I had spare pants because "a melted poo sneaked out."

Poop soup! This has really made me chuckle.
Re: Juvenile Jibber Jabber
a melted poo snuck out, poor guy! Those sneaky melted poos.
She seems fine, she hitched and vommed once last week so I imagine this was the tail-end (har) of whatever she's been managing. Nothing has slowed her down, no fevers or anything. I anticipate G being wiped out with it for four days soon, my kids always get these superbug things for only an hour or so that then knockout all nearby adults for days.

Glad she's ok. Joe was fine too, aside from melted pooing himself once a day with no warning. I ended up having to get Kaolin from the chemist to settle his stomach but he wasn't unwell at all. Just disgusting.

My juniors had a uniform in the 70s. The infants attached to it had one too, though I went to a different infants which didn't have one.
