We find out E’s tomorrow morning. Her primary is a feeder school and it’s unlikely that she’s not been offered a place but I will feel better wh n I’ve seen it in black and white.

I’m glad Jack is OK about his school, Smun. Fingers crossed everyone gets what they are hoping for.

I found the stress was really catching. People get obsessed. I'm glad Jack is sorted, Smun.

It will probably be the same for my nephew. My sister is planning to repeatedly appeal if he doesn't get into her preferred school; I haven't told pointed out that you need grounds to appeal and it's not just about who has the pushiest parent .

Yes. People seem sure that they will be able to deliver a passionate speech and get 'their' school place.

So secondary school starts for us on Wednesday. I finally got the school bus sorted today, the council are beyond crap. L at least seems to be taking it in his stride, I know a few of his friends are really nervous about the whole thing.

I hope it goes ok for him. Jack seems to be enjoying high school so far, although does grump about it making him tired.

L has been knackered this week. I’m not sure how he’ll cope once homework gets any more taxing than covering his exercise book.

Out of interest how much is everyone paying for the school bus? People here are outraged by the cost and I wondered how it compares to other areas. We’ve wangled a place on the council run bus which is £753/year. If you’re on the privately run one it’s £820.

A and E are both knackered this week too. Their extra curricular activities kick in next week and I’m expecting another couple of weeks of shatteredness before they get into the swing of it all.

E’s school bus is free for us because although she goes to our closest secondary school within the local authority, we live outside their 3 mile cut off. A’s bus pass costs us £37 per month but he can use it anytime, even on non-school buses and trains as long as he stays within the county.

I forgot to say, the privately run school buses near us come in at about £1000 a year, so eyewateringly expensive IMO.

L’s journey is only 5 miles but it’s a different county.

I wasn’t expecting free transport but the price has jumped massively since they scrapped the faith subsidy. My friend is still paying the subsidised amount (her daughter is older) and it’s about £250.
