IWLTS Sorry, I wasn’t trying to alert you that the police speed van is parked in its usual space up the road, I was just trying to turn on my windscreen wipers and I forgot what car I was in

Serves them right for inviting themselves round Pip.

IWLTS: Why didn't I watch The Masked Singer from the beginning? To my snobby self who thought it was too trashy even for a Saturday night.

 Oh no! I feel like it’s only a matter of time before I do the same.

IWLTS that was breathtakingly rude. How can you possibly think you were in the right there?

To one of the school mums, who always parks in one of the two disabled parking spaces outside the school (without a blue badge.) Apparently another mum, L, who uses the other disabled space (with a blue badge and having obviously very badly impaired mobility) gave her a hard stare and she went off on one about it, telling L to “get a fucking life, it’s only for 5 minutes,” “what does it matter to you anyway, I get here after you and I’ll be back at my car way before you will.” :uhh: Obviously that was yesterday, but I’m still thinking about it now. :l:

I wish I’d been watching The Masked Singer now!

That’s a disgusting way to speak to L! No wonder it has affected you, Tits.

What a cow. Is it possible to report her to the school?

Wow! What a fucking arsehole. It will be interesting to see if she keeps using the space after that; sometimes people lash out because they are embarrassed at being called on it but only the truly brazen carry on regardless. (Our school will sometimes ask the traffic officers to make their presence known around drop off and pick up if people are being particularly awful.)

Pip! My sister did the same in front of the terrible registrar, but at least we never have to see her again.

I hadn’t thought about reporting her. The school were pretty good about dealing with people parking in the disabled spaces when there were complaints about it a year or so ago (the woman’s son is in Primary 1, so before her time) so I think I’ll speak to the school office about it on Monday and they might get a member of staff out there.

That's so shit.
Some people are persistent offenders at our school (parking on the zig zag or double yellows mainly even though they're repeatedly asked directly not to, I don't know where they get the brass neck really)

It was the same at the primary ours went to. The area around the school is quite old, and the houses don't have garages, so there are lots of traffic issues at the best of times, and the (Victorian) school was built long before cars were a consideration. Parents used to block access roads, and park so that children crossing the road to the school entrance couldn't see if cars were coming, and all manner of similar selfish ways. The Head was always sending out letters asking them not to (we were pre-FB pages), but so many people honestly think that they are above all that, and rules don't apply to them. It sets such a bad example to their children, but that didn't seem to bother them. It drove me insane, and I don't even drive.

Can schools issue fines for people parking like this? It's (a) unfair to those in genuine need and (b) dangerous.

I doubt it, but I don't know. I always thought it was just courts or the police who could issue fines, but maybe not. I don't think that individuals should have that power, but something needs to be done. Maybe they could threaten to exclude the children of parents who do it? That wouldn't be fair either, but the threat might be enough to put a stop to it.
