IWLTS the info on your website really isn't clear so please stop telling me that I should have booked everything at the start – if I'd realised that was necessary, I would have done so!

I booked on a sewing class with the local adult education college; website gives list of classes by term for the year and gives the date that bookings for Sept classes open. I took this to mean that enrolment for Jan classes would be nearer that time, especially as payment is term by term.

I went along to the first class last week only to find that the class is already fully booked for next term; apparently you can/should book for the year. I messaged to ask to be put on the waiting list and have had a series of passive-aggressive emails back telling me that I should have booked all three terms at once. Apart from anything else, paying for a year at once (costs are actually given by term) is a lot of money all at once.

I hope you get a place, Demelza. That sort of thing is annoying, particularly when you want continuity from one term to the next.

Thank you – they've told me there are still places for Term 3 but I don't really want to have such a huge gap!

No, I can understand that. Someone may drop out though, I suppose.

Annoying! It sounds like it would work much better to open registration separately for each term.

You'd have thought so, wouldn't you! Ah well

And another one – how can my train ticket cost £40 more if I buy it as a single one?

Here to home is £100 off-peak. If I buy a ticket to Bristol, it's just over £50 and I can get a ticket for the rest of the journey for £11. Same changes/times.

My brother said it's cheaper for him to buy a return ticket from Totness to Grantham than to London. So he does that and just uses the London-Totness part of the ticket. WTF?

A return for me is circa £500. Messing about with split-fares and booking single tickets, I managed to get here for £70 and potentially back for £60.

That's frustrating, Hazy. Once after a bad breakup, I started hanging out the gay flatmate of my sister's then-bloke. I remember the pair of them (sis and chap) giving me the talk and it somehow sullied the friendship. He was funny and sweet and safe, and would go out dancing with me until the early hours. I had no interest in him or any man at the time.

Train prices are bonkers. It costs minimum £70 return to London from here on the direct line if you’re clever and can travel off peak. But drive 40 minutes to Rugby and it’s about £20.

Tickets back booking the legs separately has cost £68. The same journey booked as a single journey (same trains, same changes) was £198 and that was the cheapest option. It went up to nearly £300.

If I hadn't minded loitering in Bristol for an hour for the next train, I could have got home for about £55.

It's madness. I booked from Hometown to Chesterfield in August, and the options were numerous. Trainline was good though - they found me a direct train with a FC upgrade for cheaper than standard with several stops. It did mean hanging about all day on the return leg, but it was worth it for me not to have to lug a case about with my breathing problems. I ended up with three tickets one way and two the other, but stayed in the same seat on the same train both ways.

Are you okay Luna?

My IWLTS is...you really are cold, unemotional and devoid of any inter personal skills, aren't you? This is to MrW's brother who happened to be at their parents house when we visited. I tried several times to engage in conversation, every time it was a response and no return comment to continue. Poor MrW tried as well and it was the same thing. The only time he did engage was for him trying to work out how much we spend on things. He's ridiculously frugal and I could see him being all judgemental.

I've often wondered if he's neurodivergent but I don't think this should be an excuse for such poor behaviour and down right bad manners.

IWLTS: please stop calling me.

I need repairs done to my rood. I contacted a few companies and one came out, gave us a quote and booked us in to do it. The weather has been shit, so he's not been able to do it but he's texted a few times to say he'll get it done.

Another guy said he would come out to do a quote but by the time he'd called back, I'd already booked the other guy. This second guy left a message saying that if I wanted him to come out, I could call him back. I didn't bother as I'd already booked the first guy. Since then he's called on 3 separate occasions! I feel a bit bad but you think he'd take the hint!

I wish people would say what they mean. If you want a callback either way, then don't say otherwise.

IWLTS: It's too bloody hard to buy concert tickets these days! It's so aggravating! I've been in a presale queue for an hour, and there are probably no tickets left, but there might be, so.. :banghead:

I hate that too LM. Billions invested in tech and they still can’t get servers that work properly :verm:

IWLTS: the only thing worse than the Tory Party conference is a blow by blow account of it by text. Please stop texting me stories from bbc news with the latest madness

This is to my mother, an ardent anti-Tory but all too fond of firing off 12 text messages in 5 minutes with the latest horrors of what Rishi has been saying. I can’t say that to her because we’re her only outlet now she doesn’t have my dad, and it breaks my heart a bit, but for the love of all things Pete I wish she’d stop texting! I did a silent cheer when she said it was raising her blood pressure too much and she was off to watch Neighbours instead but then she started texting about Donald Trump :ruby:
