I've just undertaken a little light stalking of a school mum after being sent a link by a friend. Her two youngest children are called Pebbles and Snow.

Surely they're dogs names?

She certainly was. I can't imagine it on a 30 year old woman though.

The papers this morning are reporting that although the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted their son to have a title they decided not to style him as Lord Dumbarton (available to them as Harry is also the Earl of Dumbarton) because it has “Dumb” in it.

My friend’s mum has just posted congratulations on FB about another of her children’s new baby - Besty. I presumed a typo but nobody else has corrected it or referred to a Betsy. :look:

I knew someone who knew someone who was a registrar and she wasn't never sure to ask whether some of the names were a spelling mistake or not in case some parents became massively offended!

I work with a Micheal. I think it's a real name and not a misspelling.

The Micheal I was at school with was London born and bred; his parents just got the spelling wrong.

They might have had an Irish Uncle Micheal he was named after or something though? I'm not sure you can say someone got the spelling wrong if they've spelt it an accepted way.

I guess it depends how they pronounced it, the Irish name is Mee-hall rather than Mike-il.
