Why am I surprised you only listened to what I had been saying for 20 minutes when a man said it. I had more experience of that product than the other 4 of you added together

IWLTS- I don’t have particularly high standard but I’d like to see the minimum reached. At the beginning of May, you committed to completing this by the end of June. So if I double check and ask “what happened in the first 6 weeks? I can’t see anything happened” don’t be surprised that I can’t bail you out. And don’t tell me “oh but I didn’t know” either.

IWLTS Get over your lying self, you big man baby.

About a year ago, I had to return a piece of work to someone with a glass ego. What should have been a quick tick to confirm permissions is still rumbling on and every time I hear the tale, my bureaucratic cruelty becomes more extreme. I'm already the source of his professional impotence and failure to meet contractual obligations. I probably caused the global economic crisis and Madonna's bacterial infection too.

Oh me too Beena! Are people probably running around saying you’re too strict and a bitch too?

I’m neither, I’m just following the procedures which are necessary given the product we make. If we worked for a company making office supplies- sure. But we don’t.

Yep, that's the one.

Every once in a while, I'm put on the spot in a meeting, usually as he's been challenged by senior management about his performance and he nonsensically blames what boils down to a request for more info. The accusations no longer bear any relation to the truth. I lost my temper yesterday as found myself being publicly berated in front of 80 odd strangers and it's no fun. I need to escalate it as it's bordering on bullying.

IWLTS Um no. I am not “ok with Spoons”. I’ve had Sunday lunch at a nice pub pencilled in for ages. I’m not wasting my day with a meal out in Wetherspoons.

Ha, who's that, sal? I feel I have to use LinkedIn to try to find clients so I'm always relentlessly upbeat on there. :))

It's my cousin, Lazz. I'm not surprised really as she works in a sector where you have to really push yourself but it is all a bit nauseating. She's posting today about being involved in a festival in our parents' home town. Its genuinely like something out of Father Ted, and I'm appalled that they still have it. She's waxing lyrical about how amazing it is (it's not) and how she loved holidaying there as a child (she did not, we all hated it  )

I'm sorely tempted to post something about how surprised I am that she'd be happy to be involved in such a dated and sexist event

I didn't think you would be :))

I know LinkedIn is generally bullshit but I guess this bothers me because I hate the idea of beauty contests, and also because I'm a bit over her bragging.

I hear ya. The number of translators who are just constantly posting selfies of themselves is outrageous, it's got NOTHING to do with any of their work. :lg:

I got off LI years ago because they kept emailing me with totally irrelevant contacts, and in any case it wasn't useful for me beyond nosing at people occasionally. But I did think at least it wasn't really "social" media. It seems to have become just as social as FB for a lot of users!

I need to know more about the event!

IWLTS: Why do you have to make everything so awkward. I said I'd do a Photo Booth for my brother's wedding. I've made the background, sourced loads of props and it's pretty good. The plan was to do a hashtag and have somewhere all the photos could be uploaded for me to sort after the event.

He decided he wanted them printing at the event.

I suggested a polaroid camera for ease.

He's bought a HP sprocket. To print on that you need an app. How the hell am I going to convince 180 to download an app onto their phone just so they can print a damn picture. So now I'm scrabbling about for an old phone I can leave on the table with the app and people can use it... so he whinged to me about picture quality.

Can you print a qr code for the app but also give people the option to get pictures after the event if they don't want to download it?

IWLTS you are a really irritating person to sit next to in the office. You talk to yourself, your food is smelly and frequently consumed, plus you eat loudly and smack your chops together highly audibly. And you sniff.
