IWLTS : 100 euros a month? Are you having a laugh?

LinkedIn keeps asking me to try their Premium service. Tonight they offered me one month free, but said after that it'll be 99.99€ a month! A month!!! Do people actually pay that?

I know, me too. But I might be looking for a new job soon, so I thought I'd see what's out there. Bad things, is what. :))

Oh yeah, it has its place, but not for 100 quid a month!

One of my wanker ex-colleagues has restyled himself as a "leadership coach" and every time I open the damn thing, he's there pontificating about what SUCCESS means to YOU! I get a perverse pleasure in thinking how much I'd like to punch him in the fucking gob.

Urgh. The motivational fuckers are the absolute worst, they all need kicking in the japseye/fanny.

Also the endless tsunami of shit recruitment companies churning out C&P message after message asking things such as, "I see you are in the South West, I have an amazing opportunity for you in Canterbury" I want to take a flamethrower to them all.

Pricks.

It’s the worst, right. I shared a couple of roles I have going in my team and now I get endless calls from recruiters trying to sell me services that I’ll never use.

I don't know how it is over in Oz but over here 95% (I appreciate the couple of actually ace recruiters I know) of it is just a mini call centres where this shit is churned out like the old cold calling used to be, when people would try and flog you a new kitchen or double glazing just because your phone number appeared in the phone book.

Only these days they have a website (Linkedin), your email address, where you work and where to call you. The bullshit is absolutely endless.

IWLTS: Buy toothbrushes for your children to have at your house. They are not expensive.

Oh FFS :ella:

IWLTS hey, remember your kids? He hasn't seen them for six months and is refusing to commit to seeing them at Christmas. It's getting to the point where even Joe is giving up, as it takes days to get a response to a text.

I know you're in different countries now but you were before anyway (technically) and he was quite happy to fly in-between then. Your boys deserve more.

It's the total lack of communication really. I'm not surprised by it, just sad for them.

Is he in New York now, or still in London?

They're dicks, and it's their loss really, but it's infuriating.

He's in London, and has been in Australia and Malaysia and wherever else.

In his (slight) defence, it'll be 5 months at Christmas, not 6.

IWLTS: Piggybacking onto another kid's birthday sleepover is basically just getting your kid presents for attending. Kind of pricey for attendees in January too! And awkward for the actual host to say no to, after you blurted it out in front of everyone.

Am I being mean? Obviously I'm not saying it.

So a parent announced that their child would be celebrating their birthday at the host's home without the host inviting them to do so?

Yes. The host was trying to pin down a date that suited everyone and ended up two months away, then this other parent just blurted out it was also their kids birthday and they should do a combo party. All on group text.

That is rude if it’s not been discussed privately in the background.
