Same. I swear people only ask so they can spend 20 minutes talking about what they did.

I texted ‘Happy New Year’ to a builder this morning but it was slightly passive aggressive given that I’ve been trying to get him to do some work for about eight months

THANK YOU! I was beginning to think I was speaking Swahili or something, I kept saying it in different ways and she wasn’t getting it. I can’t work out the quantity and I found a good second choice fabric that will satisfy her budget requirements As well, so hopefully now we’ll both be happy.Morganna wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 1:16 pm I totally get it, Squiz. There is someone at my knitting group who is always telling me that the local yarn shop has 'wool' in the same colour as I am using for £3 a ball or something. Yes, but it's acrylic and I am using merino - there is a difference . As you say, I am not doing it to save money - it is something I enjoy doing, and I want the end result to be an item I enjoy wearing and looks good. I could go to Primark and buy a ready made one for a lot less if that was the driving factor.

Oh no, Luna. What's he doing? I try not to generalise but every Saudi student we've had to stay has been very hard work and had an outrageous sense of entitlement.

Along the lines of Squirrel's story, I had similar when I tried to take a duvet for dry cleaning last year. The woman in the shop kept telling me it would be much cheaper if I popped it through a wash myself. I said I understood that but I was on my way out to a work meeting and didn't have time hence my desire to take advantage of the service that was advertised in more than one place in the window. I felt like I really had to force her to take my money!

As a Union rep I do have a capacity to listen and empathise but this sort of thing grips my shit and I cant be bothered with it
As an advice worker I have a massive capacity to listen and empathise with my clients (some of whom really really can talk). As such I have very little capacity to listen to anyone else going on, and need to be left alone quite a lot

It's not like anything else actually important is going on in the world right now, right?

The world is pretty much imploding - Brexit has been approved Iran, bush fires in Australia etc etc. I just can't bring myself to care about it. The royals will all be fine!

I've taught and administered hundreds of them but never hosted one before. An agent pursuaded me to take him against my better instincts. He is 16, fluent with an American accent, not doing classes so just hanging about being annoying. It's very tiring. He has Asbergers I'm sure. He just blurts a constant stream of consciousness.

IWLTS please stop giving me fucking dark chocolate ganaches with an Earl Grey infusion, and just buy twenty Galaxy Caramels or something instead.
I’ve got shitloads of chocolate I don’t want to eat.
