Re: The 'is this ok?' thread
I think that's definitely OK. I wish someone would steal mine, it takes up an annoying space and it is the one thing with recycling that I can't get on board with.
However, I'm planning to steal a green garden waste bin from the back street this weekend (they seem abandoned) so maybe I'm not the best person to reply to this

Yes, that’s fine, I’m sure of it.

Re: The 'is this ok?' thread
Thank you for validating this.
It's like a sign as SB1 and I searched all over the loft for ours just this week and were both really frustrated.
HHC - Our council charges us for replacement big bins now, so definitely grab one if they are abandoned.

Definitely, Marth. I certainly wouldn’t begrudge you mine.

Re: The 'is this ok?' thread
I only want it for this weekend as I need to trim some out of control bushes and we usually just take trimmings to the tip but it is closed. Once I've done this, I won't have any more garden waste for months as our garden is tiny and mostly just sorts itself out so I'll re-abandon it afterwards (and spray the lid and handles so they're clean).

Sounds fine to me, HHC. Our garden waste bins are cancelled at the moment, are yours still running?

Re: The 'is this ok?' thread
There is one last hurrah next week to empty them before the cancellation as I guess if they're left unemptied for months then all the stuff will be rotten and horrible (the big ones are for food and garden waste, we just have a small food caddy normally).

I've been picking the flowers in my neighbour's garden. It's their holiday home, so presumably they won't be coming down for a while, by which stage the flowers would have bloomed and died with no obe around to appreciate them. So I'm doing them a favour really. Sort of.

Re: The 'is this ok?' thread
I think that seems fair enough, Coo and Marth and Zoomer.
I'm going to have to ask my neighbours for a favour and see if I can put some garden rubbish in the wheelie of anyone who pays for collection with space to spare. We've always taken our stuff to the dump but now all the Recycling Centres are closed I'm stuck with several bags.
All our waste collections are continuing as normal, at the moment anyway.

Thanks for that link Marth, I think next week I will drop off something nice at their door. I will enjoy the drive and actually it will do my car good to get a run.

Re: The 'is this ok?' thread
My friend was driving today and got flagged down and asked to account for his movements by some sort of lockdown vigilante. Is this happening a lot or are most people huffing in a quiet British fashion and leaving it to the police?

I haven't heard of that, Tex, but I'm not surprised, really. The level of indignation at what everyone else is up to is incredibly high. I know that people are scared and there are always going to be know-all busybodies, but I find it worrying. People were at one another's throats because of Brexit, and there hasn't been enough time between then and now for the tensions to die down.

Oh I'm convinced someone's going to end up dead because someone decides to police the lockdown.

Surely that’s not practising safe social distancing?

That's bloody awful. Your friend can report that loon to the police, Tex.
