Re: It's the little things you miss...
We were talking about this the other day and I really miss my daily commute to work! I had got into the habit of cycling the short distance 3 times a week and it gave me time to prepare for and then get rid of the stresses of working in a small office. I'm not sure I miss the actual time in the office but I do miss getting there and back. I also miss time alone.
Randomly going for a coffee or out for lunch at the weekend. I think it will take me a long time to feel happy and safe in crowds so I won't put myself in that situation (I've never been a lover of crowded places anyway).
I also miss getting in the car to drive somewhere different!

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

Surely seeing friends and family isn't a little thing though - that's the biggest IMO.
I agree on driving, my car has barely got above third gear this last year.

Missing doing things with friends and family kind of goes as a given.
I miss my choirs, and my drumming groups, and my tapdancing classes, and my BodyJam classes.
I miss using my day off to pop up to the cinema and see a new release.
I miss pottering round the supermarket, picking things up and putting them back without feeling like everyone's judging me for being a dirty contaminator.
I miss perusing the beauty counters for half an hour and picking a new thing to try.

Seeing family is massive but also totally something I took for granted. I live near my family and popping in for a cup of tea or quickly dropping something off or whatever is something that happened a lot without any ceremony or thought.

I miss spontaneity, and lipstick testers.
And all the other stuff, but you know, you’ve all said that.

Yes! And getting made up in general, I know I could still do that but I can't be arsed. It seems a bit pointless anyway with the hair I've got going on.H1ppychick wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 12:31 pm I miss perusing the beauty counters for half an hour and picking a new thing to try.

I actually really miss the myriad of social interactions that I used to have day to day - I've got a small-ish group of good friends locally, but know many, many more people and I really miss just bumping into people all the time.

I miss my commute to work, everyone packed in like sardines as we trundled down the stairs to the tube at Finsbury Park. I’d listen to pop music to drown everyone out .
I miss being able to plan in both short and long term, and know it’ll happen, and being able mooch about in the shops or walk to Oxford Circus in my lunch hour.
The lack of planning I miss most of all; I feel so impatient to have something to plan for.

The thought of getting on a commuter tube makes me feel weird. We were watching old Super Bowl half time shows (don't judge ) and I said to G that the crowds of people made me feel so uneasy and that I never want to be in a crowd like that again!

I really crave being in a big crowd again. I fantasise about a trip to London a lot because I associate it with hustle and bustle and walking through crowded tube stations and stuff. Which isn't to say I'd actually feel comfortable doing it right now, but I crave a day when I do.

I would love a day of strolling around a city and looking in shops and having a coffee on a terrasse. Preferably alone or with friends, not with a whinging child and/or a grumpy man anyway.

This! Just passing the time of day with people in this way, like you say, I wouldn't lift the phone to them but I miss all this passing chat.
I miss the city centre, and it being filled with people, and the buzz. I like crowds, and I miss being in them.

Same here, I am only about a 10 minute drive from my mum, same for one brother, and about 20 minutes drive to the other brother. I really miss just swinging by to drop something off and saying "oh no, I can't stay, oh well if you've got the kettle on anyway, I'll just have a quick brew"

I miss being in the house alone, going to Primark and adding a pub/cafe visit on to a walk.

Re: It's the little things you miss...
I have only seen one person for one hour in two months, so I miss friends/people mainly. I don't know anyone near enough to be a functioning bubble as I only moved here on 28/2/20. I don't think that's a little thing, though! However, I've been weirdly fine, I think I'd fare ok as a hermit for a few years before descending into madness.
I would also like to eat in a restaurant, go to the pub, go clothes shopping and go on holiday.

I miss pootling round TK Maxx and charity shops. And coffees out and just being somewhere different.

I miss wandering around TK Maxx and daft stuff like that. It's things like Glasgow TMT meets that I miss most, I think, and just being able to decide to meet someone for a coffee. I also really miss face to face classes, online sucks all the enjoyment out of it.

This! There is so much we could do, but I'm too scared to use a public bathroom. I miss day trips, just jumping in the car and taking off to somewhere else.
