God, Lilibet is a nickname, for crying out loud. That’s so tacky.

Its just SO obvious isn't it. I bet the rest of them are cringing themselves inside out about it.

Lilibet is a recognised variant of Elizabeth too. I used to be called that when I was small, and it’s ugh . As you say, smal, it’s so obvious. It’s exactly what a woman from LA who married into the Royal Family would get wrong. The family over this side of the Atlantic must be absolutely full of glee.

Honestly, my first thought was “Oh, they must be big fans of The Crown” I mean obviously PH actually knows it as her nickname first hand, but it feels like they wouldn’t have put that affectionate nickname out there so boldly if it wasn’t already very well known. And maybe it was common knowledge to everyone and it’s only me who learned it from The Crown.
But anyway, my second thought was then instantly that scene where Peter Townsend presumed to call Liz by it, without prior permission, and the camera cut to her outraged face That is my exact impression of the Buckingham Palace reaction, true or not.

My Mum is deeply outraged on the Queen's behalf. She only just stopped short of something like "with Philip barely cold."
