I think its the sort of thing you just have to accept if your child marries into the royals (or probably, any kind of monied family).
TTN is named after her gran and great grandmother (both on her mum's side) and her godparents are both from her mum's side. My SIL had no qualms about showing a preference :))

I think Carole Middleton's middle name is Elizabeth and Pippa's is Charlotte. So works for both sides of the family.

Yes, I think Kate and William trod a very diplomatic line with their daughter, with Charles, Diana, Carole, Pippa and the Queen all nodded to. Poor Michael and James Middleton were totally passed over

I am going to be gracious and assume they asked the Queen's permisison first, and that it is an olive branch. :look: But, way to step back from being Royal.

Archie and Lili are very modern :granny:. I’m 50% thinking good for them doing what they want even if it’s a bit naff, and 50% thinking…. how naff .

ETA: I mean naff for a royal. I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at those names at my children’s school.

I genuinely love the name Persephone!. But, yeah, do not have the lifestyle (or daughter) for it.

See also: Octavia and Aurelia (although I know of an Aurelia around here so maybe that's not as ridiculous)

I would love to call a daughter Athena, and a son Buccaneer. Calling their kids standard names is indeed a wasted opportunity.

Athena's nice, but I'd always think of the 90's poster shop.

I always wanted to call a daughter Hero. I absolutely never would have, of course. :)) And then Mylene Klass did, so…

Meghan’s fans have started calling her “Lil’ Di” on twitter. I wonder if that’s an abbreviation they had in mind?

I'm old enough to remember Zara Philips being born, and naff was exactly what everyone said about her name :))
